Honestly I love the whole concept of flowers with meanings and all of that so I might talk about it more in depth about it later but for now...
Gold would secretely leaves Freddy blue and red roses as a way to express his feelings without having to face him as Golden, sometimes with a little letter attached to them that has a poem or some song lyrics, written in perfect cursive because he wants to really stand out and show how different he is. He wants Freddy to already have an idea of him as a person before actually showing his face, because he fears otherwise he might just be seen as another fastidious shadow that exists only to cause trouble.
(Golden helps too, since he knows some songs and singers that Freddy really likes, tho Gold worries he might come of as an stalker if he uses too many of his favorites)
