hi this blog is inactive, i remade again because this one was pissing me off. see ya around.
“Hey man, take my picture!”
“I can’t do it. It’s too dark.”
“Yeah, we need some light. Let’s go over there.”
“Are you homeless?”
“Yes, I am.”
“How long have you been homeless?”
“15 years. I’ve been in Boston 8 months. Before that I was in Washington, Virginia, New York, Philadelphia, Louisiana, Florida…”
“Why didn’t you stay in Florida? It’s so much warmer.”
“I wanted to see my family. But they don’t want to see me. They don’t understand depression. They treat me like dirt. Homeless people treat me better than my family.”
“And what happened 15 years ago? How did you end up on the streets?”
“I tried to burn myself twice. I had 30 surgeries. I was dead two times, but God brought me back. I don’t know why.”
“And why did you do it?”
“I was depressed. Why you crying?”
“Because you are a beautiful person, and my family is really messed up, and I’ve been very depressed. I think I can understand you.”
“Yes, I am a good person. And when you take people’s pictures, don’t disrespect them.”
“No, man, I won’t. I like people. That’s why I take their pictures.”
“And when you make your portfolio, don’t denigrate people. Let the pictures speak for themselves.”
“I will. Are you safe on the streets?”
“Yes, I am…And now I have $8 to buy me some food.”
“That’s all I have. Next time I see you, I will give you more.”
“No, man. It ain’t all about money. Give me a hug. And next time you see me, give me a hug again. And thanks for taking my picture.”
One of my favorite posts.
Reblogging for all the Black folks dealing with depression and mental illness. We have so little understanding and tolerance for it as a community. It can be very hard living as a depressed person in a community that doesn’t believe it exists.

Victims of police brutality… Art by Ashley A. Woods.
This is my submission for the APB - Artists Against Police Brutality book - with John Jennings and Bill Campbell. Please take the time to read about the victims in the subsequent posts.

Yesterday was actually an able-to-go-outside-and-not-instantly-freeze day, so i decided to treat myself to Kingsman.
I was not disappointed.
When I’m feeling better ((since even doing that much wore me down)) there will most likely be art.

This Congressman just showed everyone the exact right way to support transgender people
On Wednesday, California Congressman Mike Honda did his part to combat the often difficult reality many transgender people face by expressing a sweet message of love and support for his own grandchild.
The tweet was sent in the wake of recent, encouraging political action on behalf of trans individuals. A new law could be on the horizon.
Breaking news: Man is decent human being, deserves praise
OR Breaking News: CONGRESS MAN shows support for a marginalized group when most would try to hide it away in the closet.
Breaking news: Man who has the power to help change things, not because he’s a straight white ally, but because he actually has power in the government, is yes, a decent human being, but also is potentially using his power as a congressman to help change things, for the better, for trans people.
BREAKING NEWS: HIS GRANDCHILD MAY BE ABLE TO ALSO USE THEIR GRANDFATHERS POWER AS A CONGRESSMAN TO CHANGE THINGS.
BREAKING NEWS: THIS IS A FUCKING GOOD THING. it may not seem like a lot, and trust me, I will never pretend to know the trials of a trans person. But, I do know that when someone has power as a representative of the government, they don’t always use it. And from the looks of it, this man may intend to help change things, not only in his own state, but prehaps the whole country.
And he’s also risking losing his power as an elected official; if his constituents disagree with what he’s said then he may be booted in the next election.
Based on his Twitter followers, it seems the reaction has been positive.
Breaking news, this guy ain’t white. He’s Japanese-American, whose family was forced into an internment camp during WWII. I think he’s pretty cognizant of what bigotry and intolerance is like. For many minorities, it’s not a difficult jump from the racism we suffer to understand and empathize what LGBTQ suffer.
