    “W-Wah! Sora-kun surprised yours truly…” Shinobu screams as he clutches his heart, and slumps over. “Doing that isn’t good for this ninja’s heart… but he is dutifully touched that Sora-kun remembered! This is the first time yours truly really had friends, so…”

    He takes the gift from his friend hesitantly, unsure how quickly he should jump to open it. When Sora begins to talk about ninjas, he jumps excitedly to unwrapping the gift. Trembling in euphoria, Shinobu places the game on the ground and wraps his arms around Sora, enveloping him in a hug.

     “Ehehe… thank you for everything, Sora-kun. Thank you for being yours truly’s friend. Um… does Sora-kun also think that if we met earlier, then we would’ve been great friends?”

      He smiles in delight at Shinobu’s positive reaction, arms wrapping the shorter in return, a gentle hum leaving his grinning lips as he squeezes his classmate tightly. ❝ HuHu~ Sora understands~ He hasn’t had friends like Shino-chan and everyone else before, so he wanted to make you happy~ ♪ It looks like he succeeded, so Sora’s super glad! ❞ 

    Yet, despite his cheer, he can’t help but feel slightly troubled with Shinobu’s query. Things were different for everyone before, Sora included. If he hadn’t met Shinobu in a strange place where oddities were of regular occurrence, a vague thought comes to mind: Would two people so out of place still come and grow together?

    “Hm...~” The blond pulls away slightly to give a soft grin at the birthday boy, his shoulders shrugging. “Sora isn’t sure, Shino-chan. If you met the Sora from before, he wonders what you’d say... Sora’s like this now because of Shishou and Senpai, you know?” He pauses, blinking before he’s grinning brightly again, teeth gleaming. “But, maybe Shino-chan and Sora would still get along! Even before, Sora liked the ninja characters, and Shino-chan’s a real life ninja! Sora would’ve been happy meeting you earlier.”

“Are you crying?”

basic angst starters. x

         Immediately, Yuta tried to rub away his own tears before facing the other. It was frustrating, all of it. The twin had little confidence in himself, and it heavily weighed down on him. Today was one of those days where this emotion couldn’t be contained-having just letting tears loose in his frustration, still in his classroom. He’d assumed everyone else had left, but it seemed he had been wrong.

    He didn’t want Shinobu to see this. But it was too late, huh? The twin faced the other, throwing on a smile. It wasn’t fake-no-seeing the other already made him feel much better. His problems from moments ago have been lifted, although temporarily, so he silently thanked Shinobu for that. He rubbed the back of his head, wondering what a suitable response would be.

    “ Hmm, I’ve been caught, it seems? But don’t worry, I’m fine~ ” Yuta replied, hoping that would be enough to keep the other from further questioning. “ It was not a big deal at all! But Shinobu-kun, why are you still here…? ”

“When’s the last time you slept?”

         The younger twin froze at the question. He’d been caught, huh? Yuta had been trying his hardest to cover up his exhaustion-especially in front of his friend. The last thing he wanted was to worry Shinobu, or anybody really. An upcoming live left him more anxious than usual, knowing that it was a very important one that left little room for mistake.

    Not able to afford holding 2wink back, Yuta had been slipping in extra practice at night, and as far as he knew Hinata was unaware. There was also a part of him that hoped that the extra practice would help him stand out a bit more, and not be known as ‘the second twin’ as he would sometimes be called. Either way, nervousness kept his mind racing and made it progressively more difficult to sleep-so Yuta took advantage of it.

    It wasn’t until he got to school that the tiredness would settle in, but he figured it wouldn’t be a big deal and that this would all be normal again after this live is over. But what Yuta wasn’t expecting was for somebody to be observant enough to notice, and to his dismay it had been Shinobu.

    “ Hmm~? What do you mean, Shinobu-kun…? ” Yuta asked-a poor cover up. A smile of reassurance made it’s way on his face. The less Shinobu worried, the better, right? It was much better seeing his friend excitable and happy. “ Silly question, aha…~ ♪ Anyways–! Back to the story you were telling me, what did the ninja do next? ”

          Fear stricken as his eyes scanned over the other, who was clearly hurt, Yuta was more than worried. He never imagined that he’d have to witness Shinobu hurt and in pain, and the very sight of it made him panic. The ninja had become very important to him over the course of time, and the prince felt guilt welling up inside of him-knowing very well of the situation. It only pained him more to see the other trying to conceal it, not looking him in the eyes and throwing out an obvious lie. The twin would never forget his fear of cats, however he knew this was too much to be caused by such. Yuta was a naive fool, but wouldn’t be persuaded by that. He knew what this was, and he hated that it was his fault.

     He wanted the other to face him so badly, but didn’t force it-especially since Yuta was concerned about his condition above all else. The prince had to be careful with what he said, knowing Shinobu’s pride was likely a big factor of why he was being so secretive about it. It was difficult though, because Yuta was still in a state of panic of seeing his precious ninja in pain. Real, physical pain. Caused by Shinobu...protecting him. Yuta’s selfishness that allowed him to accept this all was the reason this happened. Placing the ninja in danger once more. Perhaps the prince should tell Shinobu it isn’t a good idea to be his ninja ( it was painful to even think about ). 

     “ Do you think I believe that? ” Yuta finally spoke up once more, trying to catch the other’s gaze. He tried his hardest to display reassurance, but was unsure if his worry was more evident. “ You shouldn’t say that. You may be a ninja-but that doesn’t change the fact that I care, okay? You’re important to me. ”

Yuta-kun, have I ever told you that I really like your voice? It is very pleasing to hear~♪ I'm sure you get a lot of fans with this.

          The twin’s face immediately heated up at this comment. Yuta was always like this when receiving such compliments from the other-always so embarrassed for whatever reason ( it was frustrating ). But this time there was an additional feeling added to it that almost made him tear up on the spot. Most comments regarding his voice were always comparing him to Hinata in whichever way. Sometimes it’d be how they sounded good together, or how the slight differences in their pitches combined. Which he was thankful that they meshed well-however, there was never praise on his voice for what it was on it’s own. He wanted so badly ( selfish-isn’t it? ) for his voice to be known as great on it’s own.

     A smile surfaced, the initial rush of embarrassment and joy relieved. Yuta was truly happy to hear this from Shinobu, whom he cared much for. He was still visibly flustered, although able to contain the rest of his embarrassment. Above all else, Yuta was satisfied. 

     “ Really, Shinobu-kun? Thank you~ ♪ Hmm, did you know I find your voice the cutest? ”
