            The dining hall is crowded, as usual, and hazel eyes search through the throng of hungry students until they land on the one person he’s been looking for all morning. Jace. Alec isn't sure what comes over him, but he’s pushing himself up from his spot at the Ravenclaw table and pushing past the students in his path. Before his brain has caught up with his actions, Alec’s grabbing fistfuls of his best friend’s robes and pulling him into a fierce kiss.

            His lips are against the fifth year Gryffindor’s for only a moment before he’s pulling away, blinking. Alec’s heart is hammering in his chest as he comes back to his senses and the only thought in his head is what did I just do? Before Jace can do or say anything, Alec is quickly turning around and rushing out of the room, ignoring the whispers and the calls of his name from his housemates.

   “What are you doing here?” Maryse asked when she spotted her son at the entrance toward her room. It wasn’t said harshly, if anything she sounded tired. She’d be leaving in a few hours and she was in the middle of packing. “How long can you stay?” She then corrected, remembering that Aldertree kicked him out of the Institute. “I’m working on talking to Aldertree and the Clave. You’ll be able to come back home soon enough, I promise.”

     ‘   you’re  sure  about  this  ?   ‘    with  his  phone  clutched  against  his  cheek  ,  caspar  stuffs  more  clothes  into  a  duffle  bag.   it’s  not  until  he’s  packing  all  his  things  does  he  realize  just  how  much  stuff  he  really  has.  a  few  bags  are  already  full  ,  and  that’s  only  his  clothes.  he  tucks  his  phone  between  his  cheek  and  chin  ,  needing  both  hands  as  he  continues.   ‘  i’m  a  pretty  high  maintenance  roommate.  ‘   he  tells  the  lord  on  the  phone  with  a  small  smirk.
