Best round of golf ever, scored 77 on a par 70, same 9 twice. This is not a course using a ton of fertilizer and pesticides...so. many. BUGS! Just everywhere.
st- great drive, crappy 9 iron lucky to be on the back fringe, good chip, good putt, par.
nd- really good 8 iron to 12 feet, missed putt, par.
rd- lay up 6 iron, wedge just short, chip within a few inches, par.
th- great drive, next shot 30 feet short but on the green. Good 2 putt, par.
th- great drive, wedge on, miss birdie putt, par.
th- wedge to 6 feet, birdie
th- crappy drive but in play, layup, wedge 30 feet short, drain it! -2
th- great drive. Well struck wedge...little too well, hits back of the green, bounces over j to the swamp. Drop, chip, 2 putts, double bogey. Boo.
th- great drive, wedge to 10 feet, miss, par, even par front 9!
Round we go...10th- drive through fairway, off edge of rough, penalty drop, decent mid iron just short, chip to 7 feet, make putt for bogey.
th- thin the crap out of 8 iron, luckily in play but tough chip to 15 feet, 2 putt bogey
th- drive over marsh to the side of a hill, punch long, chip back, blow 3 footer, bogey
th- good drive, bad wedge, leave chip short, 2 putt bogey.
th- popup drive really short, long iron near green, lousy chip, 2 putt bogey.
th- pull wedge, short near marsh. Good chip from awful spot to get in play, mediocre chip, miss 6 footer, double.
At this point I am blowing my chance at breaking 80 without even making many terrible shots.
th- crush best drive of the day. 9 iron to par 5 is long, left, and lucky. Rolls down the gravel cart path, get free drop, chip onto green, 2 putt par from 20 feet.
th- popup 9 wood goes nowhere, 5 iron to front edge, great chip up the slope to 2 feet, par.
th- back hurting, manage to steer one straight enough and just far enough to end up in a good spot. Great wedge to 10 feet. Awful putt left short but par!
-42 is my best 18 hole score ever on a par 70. Finishing with 3 pars was very satisfying...pulled it together and got a bit lucky.
Golf is my biggest tumblr vice (something tumblr hates but I love, though I won't defend golf course water usage in arid areas). I'm in my late 40s, the course I play the most is barely carved out of the rocky forest and often runs out of water (in little ponds around the course) by July. I'll probably play until I can't anymore, but I may never have a better score than today. So I decided to document it a bit.
