With all that nonsense about "in-universe video game characters" out of the way, I'm gonna say I'm still leaning towards "Goners are Darkners and Ralsei is a Goner" as being correct somehow. Mainly because I've been clinging onto it and "Gaster is Ralsei's father in some form" since 2023 and refuse to let go. And also because I haven't thought up a better idea yet.

Also, no matter what happens, I still believe that Ralsei has Kris's real soul and the Red Soul we've been using isn't Kris's. I don't think the Red Soul is literally the player's, by the way. It's more like an artificial soul we use as a controller for Kris.

puts my hands together please let Ralsei be a goner please let Ralsei "prince of darkness" be the son of Gaster effectively making him the king of darkness please let Ralsei not have a light world object because he is an artificially created darkner rather than one naturally formed please let Ralsei be nothing in the "real world" so his defiance of his role means so much more please let Ralsei be our insight into how goners work and how a goner could possibly deny their code please. it would be so awesome it would be so cool
