Y'know... what if the "garbage noise" isn't purely Gaster-associated, but related specifically to whatever he discovered in Entry Number Seventeen? The sheer amount of darkness and "negative photons" and such?
What if all the FRIEND, ERAM, and the Knight stuff was related to whatever Gaster discovered, rather than Gaster himself?
A realization I had was that we have absolutely no idea what Gaster's association to the Gaster Followers even is.
A lot of people see it as some sort of "master" type thing, given the cult-y vibes and such, and that's a completely fair assessment of what's going on.
But it's also entirely reasonable to believe that Gaster is not a leader, but an object of praise. The man himself might not be telling them to say and do things, and rather they are just spreading word on their own accord and doing things because of their belief in him.
A revered figure, rather than an evil mastermind.
ENTRY NUMBER TWENTY-EIGHT - TRAITS, DETERMINATION
THE SOUL TRAIT OF DETERMINATION IS, TO ME, THE MOST FASCINATING OF ALL 8, TECHNICALLY 15, THAT I'VE OBSERVED YET, AS WELL AS THE RAREST. NOT ONLY DOES A HUMAN WITH THE TRAIT OF DETERMINATION POSSESSES A SEEMINGLY BOUNDLESS ABILITY TO KEEP MOVING FORWARD, THEY ALSO ARE EQUIPPED WITH EXTREMELY INTERESTING ABILITIES, WHICH COULD EVEN LET THEM COMPARE TO THEIR TIMELINE'S GOD.
- "SAVE", "LOAD" AND "RESET" -
A "DETERMINED" HUMAN'S EYES ARE NOT THE SAME AS ANYONE ELSE'S. THEY ARE ABLE TO SEE A GLOWING LIGHT SHAPED SIMILARLY TO A STAR AT SPECIFIC SPOTS OF SPECIFIC PLACES THAT ARE "RELEVANT" TO THEIR STORY. THESE STARS, UPON BEING INTERACTED WITH, WILL GIVE A DETERMINED HUMAN THREE OPTIONS
*SAVE - ALLOWS A HUMAN TO SAVE THE CURRENT STATE OF THE TIMELINE, AKIN TO A SAVING IN A VIDEO GAME, FOR EXAMPLE
*LOAD - ALLOWS A HUMAN TO LOAD THE TIMELINE'S STATE THEY'VE SAVED.
side note - it appears that although memory of "loads" aren't preserved for most individuals (except determined humans), some are able to keep memories of them, or to feel when a "save" has been loaded, but without remembering anything about what they've lived before said "save".
*RESET - THE CURRENT MOST TERRIFYING ABILITY OF A DETERMINED HUMAN, ALLOWING THEM TO "RESET" A TIMELINE, EFFECTIVELY REWINDING TIME TO A CERTAIN, UNKNOWN POINT.
IT APPEARS THAT SOME DETERMINED HUMAN ARE ABLE TO SUMMON THESE "STARS" AT WILL, ALTHOUGH THEY EXCLUSIVELY ARE TO FIRST SAVE THEN LOAD, AS WELL AS SACRIFICING THEIR TIMELINE-WIDE RANGE TO REDUCE IT TO A FEW METERS ONLY. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THE MEMORY-WIPE EFFECT IS ALSO NULLIFIED. THE BEST EXAMPLE OF SUCH TECHNIQUE BEING USED WOULD BE, FOR EXAMPLE, IN A FIGHT. SAVING RIGHT BEFORE TAKING A BLOW AND LOADING TO PREDICT, DODGE AND FIGURE OUT AN EFFICIENT COUNTER FOR IT.
IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT UPON A DETERMINED HUMAN'S DEATH, THE TIMELINE WILL REWIND BACK TO THEIR LATEST SAVE. THIS IS WHAT I WAS PREVIOUSLY TALKING ABOUT, COMPARING THEM TO GODS, THEY SEEM TO QUITE LITERALLY BE THE MAIN CHARACTERS OF EACH OF THEIR TIMELINE.
- THE KNIFE THEORY -
IT IS A COMMON BELIEF THAT DETERMINED HUMANS ARE ABLE TO SUMMON KNIVES FROM MAGIC, AND ALTHOUGH IT IS FALSE, ALMOST EVERY THAT I'VE SEEN DID END UP CROSSING PATHS WITH A SHARP WEAPON OR USING ONE FOR COMBAT. MAYBE IT IS THE DESTINY OF A DETERMINED HUMAN TO END UP USING A KNIFE.
- THE "RED SOUL" -
SOME MONSTERS ARE ABLE TO CHANGE A HUMAN'S SOUL COLOR AND USE IT AT THEIR ADVANTAGE. THE "RED SOUL" IS OFTEN REFFERED TO AS THE "BASE" SOUL, WHICH DOESN'T HAVE ANY NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON A HUMAN.
