2017 May 21 - American River
South fork of the American River! The gorge run.
------
We went rafting for two days however I only brought the gopro out on the second day and then it froze up so I only got the first part of the run. I didn't have a mount with me so this is extra shaky because it's hand-held. (I need to learn how to be more steady and get my finger out of the image). I'm paddling during the fun parts so you won't see a lot of white water but you do see my crew (Spencer, Eric, Driller, and myself - led by Seth!) as well as the others that joined Healing Waters having a great time on a perfect day. . Next time I'll make sure to take more footage of the group land activities too. There are a lot of important people participating in this weekend. Some are back at camp and working hard to keep things moving forward like the camp cooks and hosts. Without them we'd be starving and camping in the cold night air without tents or bags! Thanks to Delton too, of course! . Healing Waters is another non-profit volunteer organization I'm interested in. I'm hoping I can figure out how I can take part! My buddy, Dana is a nurse and we both volunteer for RockMed but she's also a riverguide for HW! . From their web page: "Since 1996, we've been Empowering, Inspiring and Enriching the lives of people with HIV/AIDS through wilderness adventure. Working with qualified volunteers, we provide an emotionally and physically safe environment in the outdoors for individuals to take a moment to celebrate living, community and challenge their own beliefs about their strengths and abilities." .
