"Uhhh. Noooo?" Jack put on his best grin, a shrug rolling across his shoulders. He was doing his best to seem indifferent, but now he was a little concerned. "I was playing hide and seek with some of the dwarflings. Didn't know what the place was at the time, but I guess the uh--dinner rush set in. If you get what I mean. The smell was so bad I just sorta split."
He hadn’t heard such crude jokes since his 40s. And though he tried his best to remain dignified, the young Durin couldn’t fight the small twitch in the corner of his lips. Especially when he took note of the five little knitted caps that bobbed behind an outcropping not far from where the spirit stood.
But the situation at hand was proving a little too sinister to beam at happy little dwarflings.
“If Master Balin or his brother where in there--or, Mahal forbid, my uncle--we’ll be strung up by our--”
“Kíli!”
Well, life had been wonderful while it lasted.
"Honest question. Are those--" Jack points to a low row of buildings. "--the bathrooms? Because I'm pretty I jut froze them all over, and there are some really irritated people wandering around in there rubbing their butts right now."
The prince did his best to stifle the immature snorts as he spotted the nippy massacre.
“Master Jack, I swear, you’re going to get us--”
Then it dawned on him, and a look of sheer horror rounded his dark eyes. He peered over his shoulder, every movement slow and deliberate. “You made sure no one of very great importance was in there, didn't you?”

((LAUGHS 8000 years later I get back on this blog. Shoot me up for a thread if you still want one? I'm totally down for it!))
Jack rolled his eyes. It was sheer luck that he'd managed to sort out the date himself, and his gift had just been a little simple thing he'd figured out how to throw together at the last minute. "You say that like I don't lose track of time all the time. I saw it on someone's phone this morning. The lights and trees just warned me it was getting close." He reached down and bucked up Glowworm's chin with a finger. "And I don't need anything. Or maybe we can make something together?"
While Jack knew that was true, he still couldn't help but feel bad that he hadn't gotten the other spirit something. Usually he was on top of gifts. Trying to shrug it off, he offered a smirk to his partner as he turned his attention back.
"'Course you need something," he mused, "I gotta make something to beat that necklace I made for you before," he grinned. Though making something together did sound fun. Maybe he could work on a secret gift on his own at some point. "Buuuut... we can make something together~ What d'you want?" Probably not a valid question because he couldn't really even pinpoint one thing he would want that could be made with their ice and snow, but maybe his partner had something in mind.

"Little old man, short and spindly. How can you stand on such legs so nimbly?"
Jack leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Glowworm's lips. From behind his back he pulled a tall, icy Santa hat. It even had a fluffy little ball at the tip, made with one large snowflake. He stuck it on the other spirit's head. "Merry Christmas, love."
Even though it wasn't expected, Jack took no time at all in returning the kiss. When it was over, however, he found himself leaning in for another. He had been deprived of Froyo kisses lately -- it was only natural he wanted more. However, just as he leaned in, he felt something placed on his head. Blinking, he stood straight.
He raised his free hand up to try to figure out what exactly had been put on his head. And as his fingers brushed over it, a smirk found its way onto his lips -- which was quickly replaced by a smile at the holiday greeting and the rare nickname.
"Merry Chri--"
Wait.
It was Christmas?
A look of guilt washed across his face as he brought his hand down. Gripping at his staff, he leaned over onto it. "I... kiiinda didn't get you anything," he muttered, casting his gaze to the side. It wasn't the first time he had lost track of time; nor would it be the last, but he couldn't help but feel guilty about the lack of a gift for his partner.
"Helloooo Ghostie. Give ya one guess what season it is. Here's a hint: I'm home."
“Oh! It’s time to dig out the blow-torch from the back room!”
