(part one)
In one swift movement, all the alchemists notes and data are snatched in a bag. It didn't matter if it was a mess.
He huffs, sneering at the study on the standing board with the anatomies of people.
He rolls his eyes, clicking his tongue. He ripped the paper off the board with a horrible amount of force, it tipped over. Flurries of snow blast in with a strong wind, and all he can do is glare a the crumpled paper in his hand.
A failed experiment.
Dropping it to the ground with a scoff, he pivots. The tail of his coat swishes behind him.
There was only one thing he could have that Albedo couldn't have.
A proper date.
Adjusting the gloves on his hand, he glances to the side. His lips curl upwards. He already knew Albedo knows of his existence, why not toy with him a bit?
He spots a spare sheet of paper, casted to the side because of the mess he created form taking the alchemy notes. He scrawls bits of writing, making it seem like Albedo's notes. It was fool proof. He practiced everything Albedo did, down to his penmanship.
He finishes, leaving it all behind.
He walks upwards, tossing the bag of notes aside in the snow, where he knows it will stay. He looks towards the setting sun, telling the time.
"Albedo," he hears a gentle voice call his, or well, his master's perfected experiment.
He spins. Snow dances in front of him, and sprinkle his hair and eyelashes with tufts of white. "[Name]," he breathes out.
He waits for you to catch up, and when you do, he holds his hand out for you to take, "Perfect timing, darling."
...
It was a spectacular sight to see had he not known who was your dancing partner.
A replica of him waltzing away on the top of Dragonspine with stars littering the sky. Cryo crystalflies flutter around a snow poured lightly on the serene movements of the dancers. It could be read as romantic if he wasn't a danger to you.
He had not planned to check on them. In fact, he hadn't even known that they knew each other. For Albedo, it was his first time meeting you, but you both clicked instantly in his eyes.
He only read a sheet of paper, "You may be master's favourite creation, but I'll be [Name's] favourite version of you. Peak of DS."
His first reaction was to calculate.
He is alone with just his sword, a vision and his quick wits. If he manages to get through your shock of seeing two Albedo's, and see that he is real and the other is fake, he could win. It could potentially backfire too: what if you take his side?
That's not good.
Albedo knew where his strengths lie, and it's in his mind- not whatever's going on.
He grimaces, watching Albedo dip you to touch the floor after a twirl of your outfit. He sucks in his breath and turns away, this needed more than just himself.
He needs time and backup.
...
Albedo hums in delight, slowing down his steps in the dance. His eyes wander past your shoulders. Something behind you interested him to chuckle. You wanted to frown. You couldn't shake the feeling of uneasiness off.
Albedo's hand releases it's gentle hold on you to capture a floating cryo crystalfly in one quick movement. He blows on it, and it seemingly looks to have turned into a charm instead. He laughs at your reaction, placing the crystalfly on your hair. The natural cryo element attaches itself to the snowflakes on your head.
He didn't mean to have this much pleasure in meeting one of Albedo's friends. He didn't mean to get so attached in a walk up the mountain and a dance. He was meant to kill you after. That was his original plan.
The Albedo who knows nothing of feelings or living among people; the Albedo who planned to take over lives of many; the Albedo who wanted to prove his master he was perfection, has founded his own imperfections.
"If I were to rule the world, would you rule alongside me?" He returns his hand back to yours, clasping it together.
You tilt your head, "That's an odd question, even for you."
His face turns blank, remembering he has to imitate Albedo, and not himself. He's made too many mistakes of smiling, laughing, and being more open. He just feels happy around you, it's disgusting. Perhaps it was because he lacked contact from the outside world, that every bit of attention made him happy. He loves the feeling of being trusted, and the feeling of having someone to trust. Gross.
"But to answer your question," You drawl out the last syllable of the last word. "I would."
You give him a smile of comfort, aware that Albedo has always been a mysterious figure, but still nonetheless human with his soul.
Patting his shoulders, you part yourself from the dance to drag him to the edge of the mountain. Ancient ruins are collapsed on the ground, and you use those stones to take a seat. You pat the space next to you and Albedo sits on the spot.
"Albedo, is there something bothering you?" You ask, careful to not overstep his boundaries more. "I know I might be a bit um..." You frown, putting a finger under your chin. "I might be a bit persistent, and it's totally cool that you did say yes eventually! But if I'm making you uncomfortable, or if you just said yes to make me quiet down, please know I don't want that. I want this to be genuine."
You say that, pouring your emotions out. You just knew something was off, you just don't know what, and maybe it's because you may seem a bit pushy with Albedo, asking him to go on a date with you once a week. You cannot think of any other reason Albedo would act off other than this.
"So, Albedo... is any of this real?"
Albedo is an asshole. He knew that when he tried to wipe out the 'Perfect Creation.' He knew it when he tried to take out unsuspecting adventurers. He knew that when you were vulnerable in front of him, and how safe he feels in your presence after being with you for one night. How he wishes to be the original- the original you fell in love with, because he wants nothing more than to be loved. It is a wonderful feeling that he so desperately hates.
He knew he was an asshole when he gave a soft smile. He knew he was an asshole when he held your hands and pulled it towards his heart- or where a heart should be. He knew he was an asshole when he leaned his forehead to touch yours, and whispered under his breath, "To me, all this is real."
And he knew he was the biggest asshole when he saw your eyes gleam and asked, "Same time tomorrow?"
He doesn't underestimate that the other Albedo has a plan to defeat him, so he'll keep this meeting with you a secret.
He watches you part down to the mountain. He sends you off with an amused wave of his hand. He watches you cup your hands to your mouth, heaving in a big breath , "See you tomorrow!!"
Albedo lets himself smile again, breaking his character of being him.
He once again walks up the mountain, entering a cave no one knows about. With his cryptic magic, he summons a whopperflower, and to his command, it shifts to a familiar face. He gives its orders, and when the duplicate leaves, the tips of his lips curl downwards. The little theatre had to end soon, he knew because his Master's perfect creation was perfect for a reason. He had a plan, and the only thing he could do is try to be a few steps ahead.
He was the failed experiment for a reason. His own death is inevitable.
So even if he was living a lie, for even a little bit- he would live it for as long as he can.
it turned out to be a bit longer than i expected huh... well here's the second part!! >:D
