"He is humanity at our best!" ... couldn't say it better. Captain Pike is Star Trek’s best captain indeed. It's the writing and the charismatic performance of Anson Mount. Would love to see more.

My favorite headcanon of all time is:

Whenever the Captain gets seriously injured (usually by jumping in front of one of the crew, the self sacrificing idiot) there’s a ship wide announcement for donations of his blood type.

Crew members don’t even ask for leave, they know that there’s blanket permission for announcements of this type, and they just drop whatever their doing and run to medbay.

There has never been a time when Medbay needed to wait more than fifteen minutes for enough doners to show up. Generally, they end up turning people away.

Favorite Unmentioned Part In Beyond

Was totally when Kirk saw the alien crewmember and he called to her BY NAME. Like, the Enterprise is huge, the crew must have so many people, but he knew her immediately, even though she wasn't on the bridge, was never seen before that at all, that he still knew her by name was amazing. There is the small nod to being a fantastic captain that I loved.
