My favorite headcanon of all time is:
Whenever the Captain gets seriously injured (usually by jumping in front of one of the crew, the self sacrificing idiot) there’s a ship wide announcement for donations of his blood type.
Crew members don’t even ask for leave, they know that there’s blanket permission for announcements of this type, and they just drop whatever their doing and run to medbay.
There has never been a time when Medbay needed to wait more than fifteen minutes for enough doners to show up. Generally, they end up turning people away.

Literally can't stop thinking about that old fanfic I found on my drive. Like, how did I not finish it??? It's funny and the fight scenes are tight and then it takes a sharp turn into ripping your heart out with feelings and I am literally boggled because the only reason seems to be Next Gen OCs, but they don't FEEL like OCs. In other news, I have an excellent all - girls crew at work today and everything is done ahead of time without being asked and this is magical wow
