Hi! I just want to say thank you for reblogging writing advices! I really like writing and has for years now but struggle to write so thanks to you, I found good writing blogs to help! I'm taking finals soon but I have been feeling really conflicted. My parents want me to take a medical route and before I thought I wanted that but now, I'm not so sure. I want to be a writer. Any advice?

OH good luck with finals! Well, what I do know about medical school is that it takes a lot of years, are you prepared for some science-heavy classes for the first few years? It does make money, which is great, but from what I know, you have to sacrifice a lot of time and money into it as well, are you prepared for that? Hm, I’d take into account how much influence your parents have on your life: how do they impact your decision?

First, what do others or your parents want you to do? Now, put aside their aspirations for you and your future, what about you? What do you want to do? What do you want out of your life? Why were you fine with the medical path before? Is there anything in the medical path that draws your interest?

YAY on figuring out what you want to do! Remember, your position on this circumstance matters the most, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Ahhh, this is a bit complicated. If I were you anon, first and foremost, I would make sure that I had some sort of financial stability. It depends on what you consider important to you anon, would you have any regrets if you pursued the medical path? Any regrets if you pursued the writing path? Is the desire to be a writer important enough to pursue right now? What’s at stake for you if you pursued either path or neither? Is there anything that’s not open to discussion (i.e. things that are so significant to you--what are things that you absolutely will not budge on) when it comes to your future?

Unlike what society likes to tell us, it’s not strange for people to pursue things they’re passionate about later in life once they’ve reached a financially secure stage in their personal life. Have you ever heard of the Percy Jackson series? It’s a popular franchise, and the author, Rick Riordan, wrote that series along with adult mystery books while teaching full-time in public/private schools as a History and English teacher. And he was 33 years old when he published his first book, so yeah, I don’t know your age anon, but there are so so many people who pursue their passions or even discover their dreams later in life, so I hope you don’t think that “if you don’t do this at this age” then you’re stuck on this path forever or that you will never be able to pursue this thing. At the end of the day, it’s your life anon. The one who has to live with the ramifications of this decision is you, not your parents.

Other than that, the internet is a great resource to find people who know a hella lot about these topics (you probably already know this though). hiii I'm back! so. things died bc well I killed them. she lied to me about hanging out with her other guy friend and they're like dating now?? idk man but I decided that I deserve better, and to her it was messing around but to me it was actually my feelings, and I was just so over having my heart broken over and over. thank you for letting me gush and vent to you though throughout this whole thing :) I'll probs drop by sometimes, update you if other crushes come along! ❤️

I actually just got Blender :'D I have no idea what the hell I'm doing with all this stuff so we could try to do this stuff together????? Maybe??? (Trying to get into 3d animation because I want to head into that career field, and Monty kinda inspired it)
