Akemashite Omedeto - Happy New Year
At midnight we visited our local Buddist temple, rang the bell, and burnt our 2020 kamidana decorations. We then drove to our local Shinto shrine and picked up our o-fuda new year wishes, and hamaya, good luck arrow, along with this year’s zodiac animal and kagami mochi to complete the set up of our 2021 kamidana.
Around noon today, we climbed Mitisuishi-san to see our first view of Mt Fuji for 2021. Despite the lack of gatherings with families and friends, and the growing Covid-19 numbers, here is hoping 2021 sees us conquer this virus and we can all get together again.
