Bye Daddy, I still love you
Well, we said our final goodbyes to dad today. Mom didn't feel right keeping his ashes in a dark, cramped little box, and of all the places he traveled, his favorite place to be was home... so we found a nice spot out in the yard near his work shed, by a big tree in the shade, said our goodbyes, and released his ashes there.
I felt a little stupid at the time because, not knowing what to say as mom started scattering ashes but still wanting to say goodbye somehow, I blurted a choked up "have a safe trip, love you dad!" Sure, we were sending him on his way, but it wasn't like it was on a vacation or anything, and it felt a little late to be wishing safety on someone who had already passed. Nonetheless, that was the only thing that came to mind.
Turns out a few nights ago, mom had a dream where she was stressing out packing tons of suitcases for him like he was going to be traveling somewhere far away for a very long time, and he was just relaxed as always and reassuring her he was gonna be okay and that she doesn't need to stress out about it.
So yeah. Life's full of weird little happenstances I guess, but either way... Wherever you're going, have a safe trip.
“goodbye.
goodbye, sir.
goodbye papa.”
my dad died today of pancreas cancer. I don't really know what I feel. all I know is that we're gonna miss him. goodbye dad ❤
This is a new lyric video for "Hey Now (Letter From Heaven)" — a song I wrote for my mother, imagined as a letter from heaven after the passing of my father.
It walks beside my earlier song Goodbye Dad, which captured the grief of loss. This one is about what comes after — the light, the love that remains, and the courage to keep living. 🌤️
If you're healing from loss or walking beside someone who is, I hope this brings you comfort. You’re not alone.
"Hey now, don’t you stay too long in the rain — there’s still sunlight waiting past the pain."
🎵 This song is for anyone learning to move forward while still holding on to love.

========= 📜 LYRICS:
[Verse 1] Hey, it’s me, and I’m writing this letter to you 'Cause I knew my time was short, and I want to leave you a message that's true Maybe you already felt it — I couldn't stay too long But my love is forever, and it’ll keep you strong
[Verse 2] I know sometimes, when you think of me, the words don't come out right And it’s okay — cry a little more if you need to tonight They say time can heal the deepest of wounds And I believe, one day, your heart will bloom
[Chorus] Hey now, don’t you stay too long in the rain There’s still sunlight waiting past the pain Keep on laughing, keep on living like we used to do And I’ll be smiling every step with you
[Verse 3] So go and take that trip we dreamed of, dance when you hear our song Fill your days with joy and stories, and try to move along You’re still alive — your light still shines And you carry a little of my soul inside
[Chorus] Hey now, don’t you stay too long in the rain There’s still sunlight waiting past the pain Keep on laughing, keep on living like we used to do And I’ll be smiling every step with you
[Bridge] And when you see the stars, just know I’m not that far In the wind, in your dreams, I’m wherever you are We’ll meet again — but not too soon So live your life beneath the moon
[Chorus] Hey now, don’t you stay too long in the rain There’s still sunlight waiting past the pain Keep on laughing, keep on living like we used to do And I’ll be smiling every step with you Yeah, I’ll be smiling every step with you
[Outro] So don’t look back with sorrow, don’t freeze in yesterday You’ve still got miles to travel — I’ll guide you all the way
Goodbye Dad | Official Lyrics Video (For All Who Lost a Father)
🎶 Goodbye Dad 🎶
I wrote this song in honor of my father who recently passed away, and it's for anyone who's experienced the loss of their father. Losing a parent is one of the hardest things to go through, but it also brings forward the strength, love, and memories we hold on to. 💔
In Goodbye Dad, I wanted to capture the pain, the disbelief, and the raw emotion that comes with saying goodbye. It’s also a reflection on the things left unsaid, the moments we wish we could have had, and the pride of being their child. Even though we may say goodbye, the love we carry with us never fades. 🌟
I hope this song brings some comfort to those going through similar grief. 💫 Whether you’re remembering your dad, or just need a moment to reflect on the ones you’ve lost, I hope you feel the love and strength I tried to pour into this piece. 🙏
#GoodbyeDad

ℹ️ Lyrics:
[Verse 1] Got a call out of the blue, it shook me deep, A thousand thoughts, not ready for grief. Dropped everything, hit the road, heart racing fast, Hoping somehow this wasn't the last.
Found you lying there, silence in the air, Still and cold, God, you know that wasn't fair. Wanted to shake you, call you back to life, But time had closed what I couldn't fight.
[Chorus] Goodbye Dad, don’t you worry ‘bout us Rest now, your work is done We’ll be fine and take good care of Mom Go to heaven now, where you belong Though it’s hard to let you go, it feels so wrong, Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, Goodbye Dad…
[Verse 2] On that drive, my mind ran wild, Memories flashing back, me as a child. The fights we had, the words unsaid, Wishing I could take back all I said.
We could have laughed more, understood more, Shared another moment, one more day. But time is cruel and doesn’t wait, Now it's just memories that narrate.
[Bridge] And I’m laughing to myself, it hits me now, Ain’t that always the way it goes somehow? But now it’s too late, can’t change the past, Ain’t that always the case, and the way it goes at last.
[Outro] I’ll make you proud, just wait and see, Watch me grow from eternity. I'll say goodbye one last time, but you’re never gone And thank you for being my dad. Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, Goodbye Dad…
