After laying her eggs, the female Emperor penguin passes the egg to her mate, then heads back to sea. She’ll be back in two months to continue her parental duties. During her 2 month absence the male Emperor Penguin devotes himself to incubate a single egg that holds his offspring. Each dad will also care for his chick when it first hatches. Penguin dads do all this while surviving only on fat reserves from the previous summer. Happy Father’s Day to Papa Scalf, I would not be the man I am today were I not raised by Frank Paul Scalfano Jr. Thanks to my dad, I was able to follow my dreams and follow an artists path. He has given me so many opportunities, so much support. He always supported my passions. His love for his children is evident and he instilled many great qualities in us. Also many odd ones, but I love it. He might disagree, but I’d say I was actively encouraged to be strange, to live differently. After many conversations with peers, I know that my childhood was not typical, and at this point in my life I’m thankful for that. How Much I Love You

Dear Tumblr,

Have you ever just suddenly realized that someone really loves you? I had this epiphany with my dad recently. I get upset at my dad a lot because he always wants to talk life and choices and stuff and it is something that most of the time I don't want to talk about. I know it sounds selfish and immature of me, but it isn't something I really enjoy talking about, however, this is not the point. I realized my dad really loves me, because when he thinks I am asleep he makes sure I have enough blankets, that my room isn't too hot, that I haven't fallen out of bed, or even just to make sure that I am just okay. I used to make fun of people who wrote about a father's worry and protectiveness, but I now get it because my own dad is like that. My dad loves me a lot and I shouldn't take it for granted because not everyone has a dad like that. Goodnight Tumblr.
