his yearly christmas party had pretty much wound down, thankfully. the third round of jingle bells playing from a nearby bluetooth speaker playing in the background. every year, ian hosted a christmas celebration which mostly turned into drinking games with his collogues, mutual friends, and an extended family member or two. "see you later!" he spoke, hearing the echo of his front door slipping shut. he laughed wholeheartedly to himself, sighing as he plopped down on the couch beside the other. he was in a good mood, after all. although ian wasn't too sure how late in the night it was, with sky by his side, he often forgot the time slipping by. remembering one of the party games from earlier in the night, ian's gaze followed the mistletoe on a hook, nestled above their head. perhaps it was the jagerbombs he had that made him think the latest plan was a good idea. "ha, what is that saying? oh, it's not gay to kiss the homies!" without much warning, the man lurched forward, pressing his lips to sky's softly, smacking dramatically before pulling away. "ian - 10, sky - 9. looks like i win the title of party king for the night."

to say she was annoyed would be an understatement, her eyes like daggers from across the room each time her gaze happened to be pulled in by her ex and their current company. she should be busying herself with her own date, an unassuming friend of a friend whose sole purpose was to be her arm candy for the evening, but she couldn’t help herself when the opportunity eventually arose that they were both alone. slipping through the crowd, the brunette pulls herself up beside them and drops her voice so that only they can hear. ‘ what the hell are you doing ? really had to bring someone else to MY release party ? ’

“ you cheat on me, i’m stupid enough to believe you when you say you won’t do it again, and i’m the one who’s in the wrong for ripping the girl off of you and smacking you in the face for doing so? i’m so sorry i’m not the programmed soft - spoken barbie you thought i was. ”
“WAIT, THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE WEARING?” something to finally snatch his attention away from the screen as he caught her in his line of sight. he paused his screen, eyes roaming her frame once more as he pulled his headset off. “fuck, now i gotta change. i thought we was going casual, why you all dressed up, man?” / @goodfcryou

as a financial analyst for the company, his role was to keep it afloat, to protect their assets and make them richer. he’d always done his best, but felt constantly overlooked. -- but this trip was not about work, he thought as he grabbed himself one of those fruity drinks with the umbrella in it and joined a group chatting happily by the bar. mid conversation, his eyes fell on her. tall, tan and with long, dark hair cascading down her back. he knew who she was -- the boss’s daughter. saul wasn’t one for clichés, or forbidden romances, but the urge to at least approach her could not be CONTAINED. after having excused himself, he left his co-workers and tapped her shoulder. he’d briefly seen her sitting in board meetings -- but they hadn’t spoken more than two words to each other. “didn’t think any of the du ponts would be here...” he uttered as he got close enough to the female that she could hear him. “welcome to paradise,” his lips cornered upwards in a sly smile. he had a girl back home, but this interaction would be harmless. he’d heard through the grapevine that she was engaged to one of his colleagues (one who ALWAYS got praised, even when he was stealing pitches from the other analysts). “is your man here too?” he asked, as though they’d been friends for years.
