Spring has sprung! Daffodils overlooking #Grasmere, the lake made famous by William Wordsworth 😀 The Lake District bursts into life in March when the daffs and trees start to bud. By April everywhere is joining in the spring dance as blossom bedecks the country lanes and village greens. Camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons and azaleas add vibrant colour and lambs frolic about in the fields. Best place in the UK to enjoy this magical season! I love this @jomcgrath sketch of #Herdy sheep at the @goodlifelakes office 😀 Local Artist Jo has a strong affinity with #Herdwick sheep and is a superb animal portraitist. You can see Herdies all over the Lake District and in spring the quirkilicious lambs add a very cute signature to the rural landscape. Hardy #Herdwick sheep beside the road in the #Langdale Valley on the road between Elterwater and #Grasmere 😀 Lambs are born with dark wool and get gradually lighter as they get older. Lovely view across #Grasmere - the lake that Wordsworth knew so well. I walked down to the lake and along to Penny Rock Woods. Sat on a bench and watched the walkers and often their dogs enjoying this class #LakeDistrict scene. I'm staying at @goodlifelakes Dale End Loggia which is just about opposite my boots! Watch out - #Herdwicks on the loose! This sign is just past the cattle grid as you go into the lovely #Langdale Valley 😀Herdies roam freely across Elterwater Common and it's a great spot for a classic #LakeDistrict photo.
