Comeback of Google Maps on iPhone excites users worldwide
Google Maps, the most popular mapping app of the world makes its way back to the Apple’s iPhone from which it was removed about three months ago during the launch of the Apple iPhone 5. The app came back to the Apple’s smartphone with the release of the Google Map iPhone app on December 14, 2012. Apple had replaced the Google Maps earlier in September 2012 with its own mapping software during the launch of the iPhone 5.
Immediately after the launch of the Apple’s iPhone with a new in-built mapping app, users around the world found it inferior to Google Maps. Many complained that the app is providing incorrect locations and directions about the places. There came a strong demand to replace the app with the Google Map. It even prompted Apple CEO, Tim Cook to tender a public apology for the inconvenience to all iPhone users and also recommended that iPhone owners may consider switching to the Google maps via a mobile Web browser.
The newly launched Google mapping app for iPhone offers street-level photography of local neighborhoods, 3-D views of building, public transit directions and also provides a list of more than 80 million businesses around the world. However, the app would be missing certain features of mapping software found on Android-powered phones. One such feature is precise directions inside malls and other buildings.
