Defining Boundaries in Google Maps
Most of the posts I write on this site are based on questions I get from my offline clients. Only this morning I was asked by one of my clients if I could find a way to set out a area of business boundary in Google Maps?
At first I thought it was impossible, but very much needed. I did a simple Google search for “defining areas in google maps” and clicked on the very first listing.
A business owner wanted to have his area of operation shown on a Google Map. His problem being that he has to charge different rates for different areas of the city he worked in. And to my surprise, Google Maps does infact allow a business owner to define their areas of operation.
You can define it by suburbs, ciries or even streets and roads. It’s amazing but there is a lot you need to do to get it right. A friend of mine just made a short video showing how he accomplished it for his business. Have a look at the video above.
Google Maps also has a step by step tutorial on how you can add your own area of operations.
Also try out: Google’s new mapping tool – Maps Engine Lite (Beta). Import locations from a spreadsheet, use layers to visualize different types of content, or simply draw and add places, lines, and shapes.
