I FOUND THE SECRET TO GOOD INHUMAN SKIN COLOURS IN HEROFORGE
If, like me, you frequently play characters with skin tones easiest to describe in hexadecimel, you may find heroforge’s options a little lackluster. The nonhuman tones are limitting, occaisionally feel downright racist, and are pretty much entirely simply badly washed. This is largely down to the way they have the Skin paint type set up - it always tries to apply a plink glow to raised areas, simulating subdermal lighting. On white characters, it works pretty well. On purple-skinned ones, it makes me cringe. I’ve tried a lot of ways to get around it, many of which are finicky and rarely have good results - my previous favourite was to use Cloth paints and fiddle with the sliders. Some of them looked alright! But it was a pain in the ass. But today, I tried using the Hair colour options on the torso, and it worked like a charm!
Here’s an example where I’ve applied the Hair Paint “Passionfruit” to every piece that’s actually skin!
I think we can agree that that came out rather nicely!
Now, to continue writing my little mens...
