Where are you goi—ugh, dang it!
Cuefive, fly low and out of sight.
*Blujay rolls his eyes after witnessing the conversation, and as the Lightning’s Breath lifts off and out of sight, Blujay follows closely after the others underground the city*
*As the smoke cleared from the explosion, Martin lifted his head to examine the burning husk of Sereva’s gorean body. The smoke around the husk seemed to remain still as the realization and finality of Sereva’s death struck him. Elira’s eyes held steadfast on the body to ensure that the beast had truly been put down. Alice stood up out of cover and watched Martin carefully. Martin’s hands were clenched as a mix of emotions built up within him. Rage, relief, sorrow.*
What the hell is the point to all of this!?
*Martin punched his fist into the ground and let out a scream of agony as his knees dug into the gravel. Alice approached Martin, yet she did not offer Martin comfort when she stood near him. She loosened her rifle and struck Martin in the forehead with the butt end of her rifle, the blow sent Martin spiraling back into the ground. Slightly dazed, he looked up at her. Elira watched in amusement*
Alice: Get your act together, Martin! How many soldiers have we seen die? How many lives have we taken? You don’t get to sit around in self pity, you knew Gorea was gaining control of that body yet you didn’t take action out of sympathy for an AI.
Martin: Are you taking their side?
*Martin stood up and went to take a blow at Alice but she easily knocked his arm to the side. As Martin passed her side, she elbowed him in the back of the head causing Martin to stumble to the ground once more. He groaned as he hit the floor*
Alice: I’m being practical, an advanced civilization couldn’t defeat Gorea, Samus barely defeated Gorea and you wanted to take a chance with it?
Martin: Sereva was-
Alice: About to kill all of us.
Martin: Of course, she was just another target to you.
*At the comment Alice stepped on his shoulder as a hint of anger filled her eyes*
Alice: I’ll be as much of an assassin as I need to be. But, I will not take that from you. You and I both know what we’ve been through!
Martin: You’re...right, I’m sorry.
Elira: If you two lovebirds are done, we need to move. There’s no doubt that the Federation and Separatists saw that explosion.
*Alice forcefully removed her foot from Martin’s shoulder so that he could stand. Drelion was in a state of chaos, Federation flagships clashed in orbit as smoke from the battles that were being fought on the surface raised into the air. The trio made their way back into the underground of the city, leaving behind the husk that had once been Sereva. Thoughts of Sereva lingered in his mind as he followed Elira and Alice through the underground*
Q5-C7: Sir, brace yourself!
*Blujay raised his arms as the massive blast detonated from where Gorea/Severa had been moments ago. Raising the Archepée, a shield of energy surrounded Blujay as the power swept over him like a tidal wave. He could feel the force pressing against the shield as his own energy fought to power the shield which held it off, but after a few moments, the chaos ceased.*
*Blujay, who had blocked his eyes with his arms for defense, removed his arms from his face and straightened himself out, holding the Archepée at his side.*
*He slowly approached the crater, which was now smoking with the power Gorea had used against Martin.*
Blujay: Could I have been able to absorb the blast?
Q5-C7: No, sir. This blast far exceeds your normal energy absorption capacity. It would have killed you.
Martin: Elira!
*As Gorea released the beam, even Martin’s visor could not properly filter the brightness he was forced to shield his eyes with his arm. The air became superheated from the blast. Elira closed her eyes and held up her hand. A portal of darkness swirled into being before her, causing the powerful energy blast to be consumed by it. She grimaced as the strain of so much energy coursing through her own power tore at her. She only had one opportunity to end Gorea’s rampage and it was possible that she would not make it out alive. With one hand she maintained the portal as she stretched her other hand out above her own head. Her entire body began to shake as the power grew beyond her control. A small patch of darkness began to form over Gorea’s head but not enough to form a portal. The beam of Gorea was unrelenting, Elira could not see if the machine was wavering beyond the blinding light, that was when she felt a hand on her own shoulder. Martin’s hand, it seemed that he had managed to struggle back to his feet and reach her. The dark energy that they both shared merged into one essence within her once more. Her eyes lit up and her shaking immediately ceased. Her entire being became revitalized as she stood against Gorea*
Elira: I will show you the extent of our power!
*Another portal swirled into existence above Gorea’s head, the supercharged beam that it had fired flowed from it, piercing through Gorea’s head and then its body. An ear splitting shriek filled their ears, the scream of a human woman. Sereva. Martin grew tense as the beam hit the ground and detonated. Elira formed a spherical ward of dark energy around them as the explosion engulfed the area. For the moment, it seemed that time itself had stopped*
*Gorea’s eye flared in rage, the energy building up in her eye became unstable, to the point where it began to degrade the plating around the eye*
You mock Martin, myself. You are a monster and I will erase every trace of you from this existence!
*The eye continued to flare up, the field surrounding the charging energy became distorted until finally she released the intense beam, its light was too bright to look upon as it headed directly towards the dark being*
*As Martin met each blow that Sereva threw with a strike of his own blade. Sparks flew as each blow met. A stalemate, except even with his newly gained power, Martin’s strength waivered. Sereva’s blows were gaining power as her agitation grew. Marin know longer had the energy to return words. He clutched his swords tighter as his sole focus became to deflect her blows. His eyes watched the sparks fly as each blade struck her arms, his own heart pulse flooded his ears. Martin realized that this battle had become sheer survival. Sereva still could not land a fatal blow and began to scream in rage. Crimson light began to blind Martin’s eyes as Sereva still relentlessly lashed at him. Martin pressed his heel into the ground and leapt back just as the beam was released, with arms crossed, a dark barrier formed. Due to his inexperience of manipulating energy, the effort was instinctual albeit flawed. The barrier cracked almost instantaneously, Martin was thrown into the wall, no, through the wall of the building behind him. His body hit the ground as the beam still glared above him. Martin gasped for air as he saw his blood hit the floor. Martin went to move his arms and only his left responded. He went to feel for his right and it was still there, yet it was hanging from a small strand of flesh that was what remained of his right shoulder. The blast had almost completely torn it apart. Martin cursed knowing that he would last in his current state*
Elira: Here you are again, left on death’s door with your only hope being me to pick up the pieces.
*Elira’s hand touched the remainder of his shoulder, Martin’s breathing stabilized as her dark energy mended it back into place. His hand twitched in response as his nerves reconnected. A smooth yet sinister smile formed on her face as she stood up*
Elira: I’ll handle your ex-automated killing machine of a girlfriend.
*Elira strode out of the building, passing through the flames seamlessly, Martin could not understand where her confidence was coming from. He struggled to his feet and moved to the clearing. Elira stood in front of Gorea with a bored expression*
Elira: The famed Ultimate Power could barely scratch my Paladin. I guess legends become larger than what they really are.
*Gorea’s eyes burned brighter as she heard Blujay’s voice as well*
OF COURSE YOU BELIEVE IN FALSE BEINGS TO BE TRUE!
*She continued to strike at the figure portrayed as Martin relentlessly, each blow being met by a blow of the shadow servants blades. The rage growing within her with each strike of her piercing arms*
You desecrate his image in this broken form. How dare you exist!? Die!
*As her arm continued to strike, she released a powerful blast from her eye that painted the entire area in red as it fired*
*Blujay acknowledges Gorea the moment he appears*
Q5-C7 V.2: Sir, scans indicate a Gorean lifeform, but it is not Gorea himself. Energy signatures indicate a unique life form with similar energy readings to that of Severa, the former AI Unit of Martin.
Blujay: Martin, what is this?
*But before he had a chance to respond, the AI shoots a beam of energy at Martin. Martin then quickly engages the being, and a rage filled fight begins*
Blujay: Martin!
*Blujay jumps into the air, suspending himself with Energy Jets, and withdraws the Archepée. But Martin is too aggressive against Severa, and because he is everywhere at once, there is nowhere for Blujay to strike*
Blujay: Whenever you wanna give me an opening, Martin, let me know!
