There isn’t much water where Deimos is from. It’s a constant struggle in Nevada and the surrounding area, the world growing more twisted the further you went, but still, adventures like this were necessary.
They needed to find water, as the AAHW controlled all the water that was actually in Nevada with their monopoly on resources, more desperate measures needed to be taken so the Dissenters, Deimos included, could continue to survive on their limited supplies.
So, when he comes across a rather large body of water, it’s basically his lucky day. He doesn’t know if it’s fresh or ocean water, but taking at least some of it back to their latest dugout should prove vastly more palatable.
He should also work on securing this location so the AAHW can’t get their mitts on it and take away the precious supply.
Taking the pack off his back, he sticks the hose into the water and starts sucking it up into the specially designed canister, radioing the other Dissenters to start converging on the water source.
