There are two Gorilla species, the Eastern Gorilla (Gorilla beringei) and the Western Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla). Both species are Critically Endangered. The Eastern Gorilla comes in two subspecies; the Grauer's Gorilla (Gorilla beringei graueri) and the Mountain Gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei). The Western Gorilla also comes in two subspecies; the Cross River Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla diehli) and Western Lowland Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla).
