dating gortash means that his lap is your throne while he’s sitting on his. He doesn’t have a single shame about it, he wants to display how breathtaking his partner is to the eyes of the entire world, which means he has to have you at all time near him.

once you get your official throne by his sides though, he mourns the feeling of having you sitting on him, of his golden covered fingers combing through your hair as he distantly listens to whatever complaints has been brought forth to him today. But he knows that once you’re both out of the throne room, he’ll get just as much of you as he wishes.

dating gortash means accompanying him to his council, although he trusts few to be around that table and have such an honour. you fill his cup of wine as he hands it up, his gaze lingering on you and his golden fingers finding some kind of way to touch your skin. If you’re sitting next to him, you can be assured that as his attention is on what his counsellors bring him, his hand is on your thigh beneath the table, toying with you to see how good you can get at pretending nothing is happening.

he takes you on horseback, the both of you chasing after one another in lands covered in flowers and green grass and trees that cover the sky. You find rivers away from everything, removing your shirts and pants as you get in the water, splashing each other like kids. You swim together, stand in the water to watch the sun on the soft current’s ripples, his warm body hugging yours from behind. You lay some cloth on the ground, both laying under the sun and enjoying its warmth as you spend the afternoon together like that eating grapes and taking in the sun.

when night comes, you both sit on your room’s windowsill, watching over the city. I'm of the mind that Durge was there when Gortash captured the Emperor, even though it contradicts the memory it shows us. Getting a handle on the Knights of the Shield feels like something that would need more than the Banites alone to manage. It's possible that he could have done it alone, and I do have one headcanon of a very competent, independent Gortash, but I admit to liking him not being able to accomplish much beyond making patriars begrudgingly tolerate his existence without Durge's help.

He wouldn't need brainwashing, blackmail, and terror if he had the chops to rule on his own merit.

[I will admit that my stretching of canon to accomodate this is entirely self-indulgent, based primarily on needing my default Durge Praxas to stand over the Emperor as he brandishes Bloodthirst and commands, "Abby, yoke this bitch!"]
