OMG!!!! ARE WE HAVING GOT EPISODE 6 AND WITH HIGHT QUALITY???????
Sansa and Littlefinger
Sophie Turner gave an interview on vulture. I must say I don’t really get it what D & D do with her character. And I don’t understand all the teasing about her having this rivalry with Jon and a Stark rift as was teased in the leaks.
Book!sansa is essentially a nice person. She was a whiny teenager at the beginning, that’s true, but I fell in love with her character in ACOK when she prayed even for her enemies and when her innocence even moved the hound. In the books she learns gradually, but she is still a nice person at heart. I think that her compassion for the spoiled child Sweetrobin in AFFC shows that she cares about people (even if in a very different way than Arya).
If D & D really do a dark Sansa as has been teased, an unrelenting spiteful girl set on revenge and getting power, scheming with Littlefinger etc. it will be character assasination of the worst kind. And they seem to tease just that. I don’t mind Sansa becoming a better player in the game, but only if she plays for the good of her family.
It would be o.k., if they play it ambiguously, perhaps more from Arya’s point of view, so that the viewer is not sure, if Sansa sides with Littlefinger. But it would have to be done like that: Sansa wants from the start to bring down Littlefinger and only plays at contemplating to side with him and go against Jon, while she tries to outwit Littlefinger. I would be o.k. as well if we only realise that at the very last moment, before she finally shoves a dagger in Littlefinger’s heart. And it would be nice, if Arya helps Sansa to bring Littlefinger down, because I don’t think that it is easy to play him.
Littlefinger tells Sansa that he wants the Iron Throne and her by his side, but I am not entirely convinced that that is the truth. Does Littlefinger really forget to be devious, even around Sansa? I think his ultimate goal is the goal of the pimp he is at core. Having Sansa under his thumb, manipulate everybody else by exploiting her beauty, exercising power over men who are stupid enough only to see the beautifulf woman and not the pimp in the background. I think that that is the thing Littlefinger wants: Sansa as a queen, but under his thumb and his creature in every way. I don’t think Littlefinger would even need the sexual satisfaction, just the feeling of power over the daughter of the woman he did not get. In a way it makes sense, even bookwise that Littlefinger sold Sansa to the Boltons. In the books he just wants to sell her body and her claim to Harrold Hardyng (who can hardly be as bad as Ramsay), but still Littlefinger tries to act the pimp with Sansa and I think that he told her about his “dream” in ep 10 of season 6, is just a way to ensure that he has a firm grip on Sansa. I sincerely hope, that Sansa will realize that.
If Sansa has to be told by Arya or Bran that Littlefinger is a traitor and if she only moves against him after that, that would be really very sloppy writing and would destroy any character development D & D did in season 6. “Only a fool would trust Littlefinger” and I really hope that Sansa’s not a fool any longer.
I think that either Dark Sansa or Stupid as hell Sansa would be very unsatisfying.
