I like the detail that at the start of s2 you can see Butch twitch/move his head slightly erratically before he gets de-programmed. I'm guessing the conflicting loyalty to Fish and shooting her which he was VERY upset about, and the forced one to Penguin is why he's doing that, conditioning starting to break.
