#Repost @seaportmuseum with @get_repost ・・・ Are you planning to come get a tattoo based on the Museum’s historic collection of flash tomorrow? Join us this evening at 6:30pm for the “Gotham and Gus Wagner” lecture to learn more about tattoo artist Gus Wagner and New York’s tattooing history during the early 1900s with @daredeviltattoo co-founder Michelle Myles! The lecture will highlight the Alan Govenar and Kaleta Doolin Tattoo Collection at the Seaport Museum, examining its connections to the history of tattooing in New York. This collection, focused on the work of Augustus “Gus” Wagner (American, 1872-1941), is the most comprehensive selection of work of a single turn-of-the-century American tattoo artist. Wagner traveled the world as a merchant mariner and tattoo artist from 1897-1902, and then pursued a career as a professional tattoo artist and tattooed man, traveling across the United States.
