“The Rose of No Man’s Land” es una canción en honor a las enfermeras De la Cruz roja en la Primera Guerra Mundial. La rosa representa la enfermera, “no man’s land” es el espacio que existe entre ambas trincheras en un enfrentamiento. La canción fue compuesta en 1911 y en la portada estaba esta icónica imagen donde no se sabe con certeza quién la trasladó al tatuaje, pero pudo haber sido #guswagner o #sailorjerry lo cual con el tiempo se volvió un icono del tatuaje tradicional. Con respecto a su simbolismo, honra a las personas que prestan su vida a los necesitados como en la situación actual con el personal médico frente a esta pandemia de Covid. Instagram Auction! In honor of this weekend’s #GothamAndGusWagner event at the @seaportmuseum New York tattooers are auctioning off original paintings based off of original Gus Wagner designs. The funds raised from this painting and the #guswagnerauction will be donated to the South Street Seaport Museum to help with the restoration and preservation of the Alan Govenar and Kaleta Doolin tattoo collection of Gus Wagner’s tattoo flash and scrapbook. Opening bid is 💲40. The bidding will be kept open until noon Saturday. Saturday will be a tattoo benefit from #GusWagner designs from 12-8pm at the Melville Gallery 213 Water Street. The winning bidder can pick up their painting at the event or the painting can be mailed to you.
