PLEASE MORE THEATER KIDS WIP I AM LIVING!!!

hiiiii alex!! until today this just existed as about 600 words of disconnected notes and scenes, but thanks to you the word count has about doubled!! so here's pt1 of some theatre kids i wrote today:

He knows there’s no point in appealing the decision to the drama teacher, even if Mr S is the only teacher that ever gives Eddie the time of day. He’ll just reassure Eddie that he’s the right fit for the part he has, and he’s the lead’s understudy anyway. And sure, there’s no such thing as small parts, only small actors, but the lead was his. It was his by rights.  He’s earned it, through years of blood, sweat, and tears. Doing grunt work, serving his time in the chorus, in bit parts. Getting there early and staying late to clean up, to paint, to sew. He’s done every job in the theatre at least twice. The lead is rightfully his. Or it was. It was until—  Eddie stops dead in his tracks and the echo of his shoes slapping down the deserted hallway dies a beat later. He stands stock still as the realization crashes over him like a tsunami of shit.  It was, until “good luck.”
