This was inspired by @the-real-sasami finding probably the smallest playing card I had ever laid my eyes on.

So because I am WEAK for romantic stuff (and also a little bit of angst) and because @bechnokid keeps influencing me with these accursed brilliant ideas of hers, let me share another, somewhat tragic idea from this vampire AU that we’ve been discussing! ♡

...and this turned out longer than I meant it to so under a cut it goes!

I mean, AU or not, these are our goth parents we’re talking about, so naturally feelings are gonna develop between them some way or another. But let’s say Grimsley, being painfully aware of what he is, has been doing his best not to act on said feelings. It would never work. Him being more than a century old and undead, and Cynthia being a respected historian and very much alive, and while sure he could bite her and turn her into a vampire, he wouldn’t want to suject her to the same kind of life he’s endured, having to watch her loved ones grow old and die while she stays the same for all eternity. Yeah immortality sounds great at first, but when you really stop to think about it... being a vampire sucks!

So he’s content to just be near her. While before he could think of nothing he wanted more than to drink her blood, now he only wishes for her to be happy. And that’s not all. Maybe it was that initial blow to the head, or the feeling he gets in his chest whenever they’re together, but somehow being with her has reminded him of what it was like when he was human. Needless to say... he likes it.

That is, until she goes and kisses him, and the flood of emotion all coming back to him at once makes his vampire instincts run wild, and suddenly he’s overwhelmed with the urge to sink his teeth into her neck! Man oh man! He’s gotta get out of here...

He starts avoiding her after that, scared of what he might do to her if she kissed him again. It’s not like he wants to hurt her, but.. well, feeling human and actually being human are two completely different things. And Grimsley...? He’s nothing but a monster.
