I'm never active in the community but, everyone try to understand that he probably did just make that joke about the virus, not to be malicious, but because he's another one of us on the internet consuming the media about it. Doesn't make it right or wrong, just means he did that on his own, and there's no point debating his moral status over it. He probably hasn't even thought about it since, and we need to realize "oh, he's a dude. He said this. Oops, that wasn't cool. Let's tell him."
part 2: That being said, its a shitty joke. Nobody out there should be kissing his ass about it or canceling him, we just need to be a proper community and say something.

proper communication and good listeners are the key. no one should cancel him either. he’s still a good person, the joke he made is a simple mistake that he should learned from and if people keeps kissing his ass then he will think he hasn’t done anything wrong which is a bad habit to have.
