♠ A LETTER HAD arrived with gilded edges and neat penmanship. The Queen had not even begun to settle into her worn abode when the message had been had delivered to her. It would seem her arrival had not gone unnoticed. Of course, it should be noted that the man who had taken the time to request her company was more attuned to her actions than most.
Normally she would have declined such a meeting but much had changed in the city since her last stay. In a sense, the Gambler was feeling a tinge out of sorts. That notion alone was more than enough to get her to bow her head, just this once. More time than needed was taken to attend to her appearance. Although there was little she needed to do to impress her company tonight, her presence alone would be enough, as it always was.
Arriving with a flurry of henchmen the mob of suited gentlemen left her side when dismissed by a wave of her wrist. The restaurant was empty, not to her surprise. The ghoul knew how much she hated the unwanted company of onlookers during her more...delicate exchanges. Her approach was swift and graceful as she glided passed vacant tables and flickering candles.
The Gambler halted before her seated companion. For a moment there was a glint of amusement in crimson hues. ❝My, it really has been too long.❞ She made no movement towards the cushioned chair before her, rather she took this time to scrutinize him fully. ❝You’ve grown...How charming.❞ Painted lips quirked upwards into a cold smile.
❝Well, are you going to greet me properly or must I escort myself out so soon.❞ A challenge, it was minuscule at best but still her preferred method of issuing endearments.
