ANTICOAGULANT - a "guide" for Sorrow's Domain (Clot)
OKAY. SO. IVE BEEN PLAYING A LOT OF SORROW. AND IVE NOTICED THAT 78% OF ATTEMPTS END IN FAILURE. SO IM GONNA COMPILE A BUNCH OF TIPS/TRICKS/USEFUL TIDBITS INTO A BIG FAT LIST (under cut)
MOVEMENT TIPS--
SPAM SLIDE. You will go so goddamn fast i Promise. Normally slidespamming is only a slight speedboost but in woed (clot specifically) you will go SO FAST
DON'T LINGER UNDER THE WATER. while breaching like a whale by dipping far down is fun you can't break orbs under the water. really bad
TRAGEDY = BOINGFISH. yes, you should be afraid of and respect tragedy (the leviathan). but you shouldn't be too afraid! if you bump into its body segments you get flung upwards (which is great for when blood starts boiling (the white borders thing))
BREAKING ORBS GIVES HEIGHT. whenever you shatter an orb you gain a little bit of verticality. good for blood boiling over
DON'T FORGET ABOUT YOUR WINGBURST. it's REALLY good for airstalling over boilingblood. Please Actually Use It
HAZARD TIPS--
BOILING DOESN'T INSTAKILL. while most have probably noticed this, dipping into the blood while it's active/dangerous doesn't immediately kill you, and just places a huge drain on your sanity. don't be afraid to dip into the sea if there's an orb nearby
SANITY REGEN ISN'T INSTANT. your sanity only replenishes when the particles spawned from breaking orbs hit you, and not from the act of breaking orbs itself. breaking an orb does put a pause on you being able to die from insanity actually if you break one at the brink of losing it you can get the "I FEEL LIKE AN ATOMBOMB" badge
DON'T LINGER IN ONE SPOT. if you stay in one small area tragedy is GOING to kill you. for example, if theres two orbs and you miss them and circle back around to get them repeatedly there's a good chance that you're going to be devoured. always stay on the move!
BOMBS DO INSTAKILL. if you are even slightly in that radius when it goes off (even if you're really high up) you can kiss your run goodbye. avoiding bombs is priority above all, second only to avoiding tragedy and getting orbs.
SPAM FLASHLIGHT. on max severity you have to deal with Craven. you can ignore craven if you are spamming your flashlight and playing normally. most of the time. sometimes there are moments where you dont flash it for a bit just stay on top of that it isn't terrible
SOUND-RELATED TIPS-
GET FAMILIAR WITH THE SONG. a lot of phase transitions rely on timing with the music. for example, the first boil-over will ALWAYS trigger when the lyrics kick in (word bolded for exact moment) ("test of my faith / oh god, will you come help us?")
another example for lyric-timed events, when the song says "i cannot let this pain wear me down for all of my days," the encounter will end on days.
KEEP YOUR EARS PEELED. tragedy has a sound cue for when it gets closer. the atom bombs have a sound cue that builds when they're about to drop (if you're desperate you can dip into the radius for an orb but when you hear it building in pitch you gotta get outta there)
STYLE TIPS--
BREAK ORBS. not only do they give sanity, they also give style!
DO IT FAST. your style is constantly draining (can't go into negatives).
GET OUT OF C-RANK ASAP. if you break 5 orbs you can get B before tragedy spawns! it will spawn immediately after that though
RANKING UP SKIPS PHASES. if you rank up a little after the final stretch happens you will just immediately be launched into the end of the encounter. this goes for other phases too. i think it works with all style ranks
GOOBER LOADOUTS--
INITIAL PICK- Michael (wingburst, really good for airstalling with the white borders thing), Pio (airslide turnspeed up, helps because you are like always sliding), and Luke (movespeed up. just generally good)
SUBSEQUENT PICKS- just keep stacking Pio and Luke. i tend to go for luke first but it's always good to keep them balanced
MAINLY, JUST SURVIVE. don't get too greedy if you don't feel comfortable with the movement or the gameplay yet! sorrow encounters will always end in around 3 and a half minutes.
THINGS YOU CAN PRACTICE TO GET BETTER--
Clot Itself! who knew doing the thing over and over again made you better at it /silly
Reprieve! specifically long term runs (LESS TIME + JUST THE SAME + LESS TIME + JUST THE SAME). it gets you in the mindset of Collecting Pillars that you need for the orbs.
Water Drop Rooms! the better you understand grace's water physics, the better you'll be at clot
Drakoworm (DIVE!!) okay this is a bit of a stretch. but Tragedy and Drakoworm's movement is REALLY similar. so if you figure that out maaaybe you'll get better at tragedy? shrugs
