Ashley Mardell is SuperDuper

This may be too late, in fact it probably is, but you know what? I think this is worth saying anyway. Ashley Mardell is one of the greatest inspirations in my life. She is truly one of the kindest, smartest, and most generous human beings on this planet. The way that she talks about issues that just don't get talked about in mainstream culture, mainstream media or mainstream education really really helps people. How many transgender people take their lives because they don't know who they are or how to become themselves? How many gay teens commit suicide because they don't believe that anybody will ever accept them for who they are? How many teens of non-binary genders get killed because they don't conform? Well I wouldn't want to hazard a guess about the figures, but I do know that around the world, about every two days, someone of a non-binary gender gets murdered. And those are just the homicides that get reported. For a questioning ( but some form of queer) teenage girl, seeing Grace and Ashley in such a wonderful and loving relationship is incredibly beautiful. When I was first coming to terms with maybe being questioning, maybe not, I kept pushing it aside and telling myself that I couldn't ever imagine myself not married to a man. But as I was immersing myself in queer culture, I found Ashley's channel and started watching every video, and slowly I began to see that it was possible and that it did happen. This realisation really opened up a part of me (also brought a lot of confusion, but that's another essay for another time) and I began to imagine a future that currently seems more suited to me. Aside from all the LGBTQ+ issues that Ashley discusses and educates people on, Ashley really shows her humility. Ashley talks about her depression, self confidence and also just her opinion. She is incredibly open and generous with herself, often discussing incredibly personal things on her second channel One Take Ashley. The videos that she creates mean the world to me and I eagerly await each one with excitement and anticipation. Which is why, when the long awaited Our Love Story was posted, I could barely keep still. I watched in amazement as two people I care for deeply (is that weird when I have never met them... Probably....) fell in love. This video is so beautiful and well made, and as I watched, I could feel the love resonate through every word and every frame. Ashley is probably one of my favourite people in the world, and definitely in the YouTube community and although I know that YouTube is a community in which everyone helps lift everyone else up, I can't help mentioning that. Ashley is my greatest mentor (even though she doesn't know it) and one of my greatest inspirations. Also, Grace and Ashley are my OTP.

I really hope that one day I can have a relationship like these two have.  It’s so real and makes me have hope.  They both inspire me to continue growing and being myself even when it’s hard.
