The way that Grace spent the trial visibly distressed about Wolfgang's death wounds me
Ugh i miss him you queen, I liked that cookie too
She looked so sad 1/3 of the time she didn't even DENY IT when everyone was saying they slept together (LMAO I giggled so hard when this came on) she just wants her cookie back and her Cookie's DEAD
Gracegang my parents I love them so much gosh
Soooo to celebrate and cope with finishing Chapter 1, here's Golfgang crashed out on the sofa after a Christmas Party. They seem to have had fun, at least.
This will be my last drawing for the year. Merry Christmas, y'all :3
MADIRE NATION EYEUE 😭😭
AND THATS CALLED JAZZ????!!?!??!?!!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️💥💥💥💥
You know, for as much as I joke about Grace and Wolfgang having had sex (and it apparently being confirmed by the team too), I'm actually genuinely intrigued if that will be plot relevant later. I've seen some people talk about Grace potentially being pregnant (and side eyeing Wolfgang's corpse too which LMAO). That may sound way out there and a stretch, but it's actually not that unbelievable, surprisingly. The animal that Grace is associated with is the rabbit. Rabbits are known to represent fruitfulness, lust and fertility due to their rapid reproduction. And in Christianity they also represent rebirth and resurrection on top of that (hence why they're so intimately tied to Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Christ).
Considering how Eden's Garden has a LOT of religious symbolism and parallels to the bible, it wouldn't be too unimaginable if that's going to be how her animal symbolism becomes relevant later on. Her being the character most associated to fertility and reproduction while also being heavily implied to have had sex (probably unprotected) doesn't seem like a complete coincidence, I think. Just food for thought. Love it, hate it-- if nothing else, that'd certainly be one way to put the "dead" in "dead beat", amirite?
We never got confirmation about the real reason Wolfgang kept the note a secret and lied to Grace about being sick in order to go to the boiler room like he'd been asked, and I think never knowing what his note actually said and why he lied will probably haunt Grace indefinitely. I believe she absolutely has so many different suspicions on why, with none of them being good, and none of them being able to give her any sense of peace.
I do have my own two cents on why he lied to Grace, and I can see that being the case because-- not gonna lie here-- I would've done the same thing if I was him and my roommate was Grace.
I don't think he lied to her because he didn't trust her. Wolfgang knew her better than the rest-- we know this because they were not only bunk buddies and clearly attached and attracted to each other, but Wolfgang also mentions in his FTEs that he was investigating the other students and learning about their backgrounds and lives, which very likely included Grace (which feels significant cuz we literally know next to nothing about her in comparison since she doesn't have FTEs). Yet we see how much she obviously cared about him after his death and how much she regrets having left him alone, so I don't doubt it was even more obvious to Wolfgang as well.
I don't think he did what he did because he didn't trust her-- the opposite actually. I think he knew that if he had told her the truth, she would've cancelled going to the tournament to go with him (she was willing to do that over him being sick), and that's the reason why didn't do exactly that. He brought a knife with him. He kept it concealed and still went to the boiler room anyway, as if to give whoever summoned with the benefit of a doubt, but still brought it with him anyway. That alone shows that he knew that there was a high chance he'd have to defend himself, that whoever was waiting for him had murderous intent (lawyer intuition wins again he was unfortunately very on point). It shows that he knew it could absolutely be dangerous, and I think that's why he didn't want to risk Grace following him down there when he didn't know what could be waiting for him.
We absolutely know that Grace genuinely cared for him and while Wolfgang is not as obvious about it, we know that it was reciprocated. This man literally kick started his first FTE by randomly bringing up Grace and spending ages "having an in depth discussion" about her to Damon (and I say "to" Damon and not "with" Damon cuz he might as well have been gushing to the wall, fucking simp 💀). We also know that Wolfgang has the biggest hate boner for the teddy bear, and is the only character to hate it while everyone else loves it (seriously jesus christ what is wrong with him he acts like that thing killed his mum), yet we see it laying on his bed. That indicates that it belongs to Grace, and despite his distaste for it, he was willing to let her keep it so close to him (also since Grace never hung out with anyone else and Wolfgang was a pachinko player that implies the teddy bear was likely a gift from him which 😭). She the only woman he likes in their group that he consistently refers to by her actual name and has since the prologue. He went through with the room swap and allowed her to bunk with him because she didn't want to spend another night with Wenona. If he cared for her as much she did for him, it becomes understandable why he wouldn't want her to know about the note or about him heading to the boiler room. It makes sense that he'd rather feign sickness and send her off with Jean-- someone dependable and trustworthy-- to compete in the game tournament where there will be plenty of other people around them, which is a much safer alternative.
And it add another motive for why he lied because the tournament would be the first time Grace actually spent time with people that aren't him. When she's not alone in either of their rooms, she's with him because he's the only person she likes and trusts on a personal level. Keep in mind that Grace has been repeatedly zapped, has been shot at, has garnered some ire from a lot of their peers due to her brash personality and spends most of her free time isolating herself from the group as a result of her own unease. The tournament was meant to be a symbol of their friendship and their unity in the midst of the killing game, a way to strengthen bonds and mend burned bridges over video games and engagement, which would've been a good opportunity for Grace to integrate herself and start getting along better with their peers. And she was genuinely excited to go and compete, given how she hunted him down and tried to convince him to partner up with her. If he had told her of the note-- a note that was very obviously bait to murder him send by an anonymous person-- I feel like that would've eviscerated whatever grains of trust Grace had for everyone else, which he would've wanted to avoid as much as possible.
I like to believe he lied to her in order to avoid her following him and to keep her safe in case whoever asked him to meet up was truly attempting to cause harm, and to avoid ruining her excitement over an event she had been looking forward and tainting her faith in the group in case it really ended up just being a fluke in the end.
