One of my favorite pastimes is contra dancing, with its live music, fiddles, smoke- and alcohol-free environment, and beginner-friendly lessons. After I discovered contra in 2005, it wasn't long before a local monthly dance capitalized on my enthusiasm and recruited me to their planning committee.
Twelve years later, I attended an annual meeting at a fellow committee member's home. That's where I met Gracie Mae, a Great Dane / mountain cur mutt. Her big size is complemented by a big heart: Gracie Mae is gentle and friendly, being more than happy to cuddle up on the floor with me.
The only problem: when it comes to contra dancing, she really does have two left feet!!
