Direction Change Friday morning I woke up with total loss of vision in my left eye. Over the next two hours it partly came back, but a large portion is still gone. After 13-hours in the Providence Oregon, ER department’s and multiple tests they think that I had a stroke that went to my eye and blocked the blood flow. Saturday morning, I met with a Portland area Ophthalmologist and he showed me a cross section picture of my eye. The top had healthy thick veins, but the bottom was just white. He said the white section is dead tissue and that the function will not return. I’m still waiting for test results to come in, and I have a biopsy of my artery coming up…all this to say, I have no idea what’s next, but I know a few things: -This was coming on for a few weeks, and I just thought it was dry eyes. -God was with me every step of the way. He had me go to Allie’s on Thursday after work so when I woke up and realized that there was an issue I wasn’t alone. -He gave me “out of the box thinking” doctors that continued to look for causes instead of assigning a common diagnosis. -I have the best caring, loving, and dedicated children and friends! 🤍 -Because of this, I’m meeting people that I never would have, so my prayer is that they see Jesus in me as I make my way through this season. Please pray that God’s will will be fulfilled, and that I learn new creative ways to work with this challenge. Strengthen my mind, my heart, my pulmonary system, and I know that God can reverse the trauma and correct my vision if he chooses! I’m so thankful for the verbal dictation option on my iPhone! Teachers are heading back to work this week, staff next, kiddos the week after that… School Prayer I pray that the friendless find people that will include, the new will find a group to join, the fearful will find strength through encouragement, the strong will find empathy for the weak, the smart will find the power that comes from assisting others, and those that struggle will find resources to overcome. Lord, I pray that you will be with our children. Hold them close. Put people around them that represent Your will for their lives. Be with our teachers. Show them how to teach outside of the box. Give them resources and assistance so that they can impact their students in a powerful way. Give them eyes to see what you see when you look at each child, and give them a heart to love the unlovable. We ask you to please put your arms of protection around our schools, the staff, and students, and be with the leadership and Board members. Give them the strength to do what is right in your eyes, and expect the same from those they lead.
