How are your lessons being taught?
Again, as a PhD student, I’m just keeping to my own pace - although all face-to-face meetings have been replaced with Microsoft Teams. I’m honestly kind of liking Teams, it’s not the worst video conferencing I’ve used and it’s tied into my university 365 account so I can quickly access all my stuff.
Teaching, on the other hand, is being taught through Blackboard Collaborate.
I’ve been teaching two modules this semester, and the university supports online elements to their modules through Blackboard (online education CMS, kind of like Canvas). BB also has its own video-conferencing tool, Collaborate, which we’ve been instructed to use to teach.
It’s so awful.
Collaborate has given me nothing but connection issues, sound issues, students not being allowed to join sessions arbitrarily... I hope the uni gets its shit together, if we need to teach purely online next semester, because Collaborate ain’t cutting it.
