Just wanted to show off my next DIY project (though is is not gonna be a music themed one for once)
For the people who don’t know I am graduating from University PROPERLY soon. I thought it was supposed to happen in April of last year however I was held back by half a year instead because there were three classes I didn’t know I was supposed to pass/hadn’t been done at all due to them not being on my schedules in previous years. (Long winded story that gets me insanely heated cause of how much the communication from my school sucked but we’re not getting into that). Nonetheless I persevered through those last few classes despite my frustrations. I unofficially finished studies in May and got my last passing grades by June-July. HOWEVER, I only got the letter from the school confirming my inclusion in this years graduation ceremony a couple of weeks ago.
I feel very proud of myself for finally getting here, however it is also bittersweet because I won’t be graduating alongside the friends I made in the cohort I studied with. They all finished before me and moved away from Auckland :/. To compensate for this I plan to have an after party at my house with all my other close friends and make my own graduation robe that suits my vibe. I won’t wear this to the ceremony proper because there is a dress code but at the after party I’ll be wearing this, but it’ll also be just a fun dressing gown too for when I’m in my pyjamas but also want to feel dramatic.
The base gown I’m using is a cheap pink silk one that was given to me at the op shop (thrift store) I volunteer at for free. It had a VERY minor stain on it so it wasn’t allowed to be sold. I am currently using this crazy green lace (very brat) that I also found at the op shop for only two dollars a roll. The gown will be decked out in the lace and I might make something funky to put on the back too. Will keep you posted.
