“If Emma asked Regina about Graham, Regina would tell her.”-Actual thing a SQ shipper said.
Do I need to point out the problem here?
[x]
I'm pretty bad at this tumblr thing, so Idk how to answer an answer. Anyway, the prompt is that either Hook or Neal is hitting on Emma & gets a bit too close & she punches him, b/c she's not over Graham. I would love a happy Gremma ending though somehow. So maybe Hook/Neal hits on her, she punches him & then later she finds Graham or something? Idk. But the punching part is the main point. You're not the only taker of this prompt btw, just so you know in case you see it posted by someone else :)
(Sorry for taking so long, but I got a wonderfully brilliant idea for this and I wanted to do it justice. So here it is!)
At the moment it happened, Emma wasn’t sure what made her do it. Maybe it was all the built up tension, the anxiety over Henry. Maybe it was Hook’s poor (very poor) timing or the aggravation she felt that he wouldn’t stop hitting on her no matter how many times she told him she wasn’t interested. Maybe it was a combination of all of these, but whatever the reason, Emma (without even thinking about it) punched Hook in the face, nearly breaking his nose.
All conversation in the camp stopped and Emma suddenly felt all eyes become fixed on her. Her parents, who had busily been helping Regina in looking after the still unconscious Henry, gaped at her in surprise. Tink and Wendy both looked from Emma to Hook and back, the latter doing so in confusion. And Neal, Emma could swear that he was suppressing a smile.
Emma couldn’t even meet Hook’s gaze. She turned, and without a word to anyone, ran into the foliage. “Emma,” she heard her father call after her, then her mother’s voice, “Don’t. She needs to be on her own for now.”
Once she was sure she was out of earshot of the camp, she sat down under a nearby tree. Why did I do that? Emma shook her head, trying to clear it. She thought over everything that had happened and replayed the moment over in her head, but nothing she came up with felt like the right answer.
Suddenly, Emma felt a strange, but comforting, warmth on her left shoulder. She turned and gasped. Resting lightly on her shoulder was a beautiful, glowing, blue orb. She didn’t know how she knew, but as soon as she saw it, she knew it wasn’t from Pan. Pan had radiated a kind of malicious self-centeredness. The orb, on the other hand, felt kind and gentle. As she gazed it, Emma realized she could sense emotions from it. Right now it seemed to want nothing but to try and comfort her.
Emma smiled at it and without even thinking about it, opened her hands and the orb flew into them. It felt light, but warm and something familiar about it. Emma found herself smiling at it. “What are you?” she asked it. It buzzed and moved up and down and Emma got the sense that it was trying to tell her something. Then it stopped moving and Emma could sense frustration coming from it.
“Well, I should probably get back to the others.” She stood up and let go of the orb. “Goodbye,” Emma knew it was silly talking to an orb, but it felt rather natural than ridiculous.
When she made it back to the camp, her parents and the unconscious Henry were the only ones there. “They went to go look for more firewood and water,” Snow said in reply to Emma’s look. Emma was glad that Hook was absent and even more glad that neither of her parents mentioned what had caused her to leave.
“What is that?” Charming demanded, drawing his sword and Emma turned to see that the orb had followed her back to the camp. Her spirits lifted even more at the sight of it. Instead of being intimidated at the sight of Charming’s sword, the orb buzzed with excitement and floated over to Charming and then Snow, who were both staring as if transfixed. The orb buzzed back and forth between the two as if greeting old friend.
“What is it?” Snow asked in awe.
“I’m not sure,” Emma admitted. “I found it earlier. I don’t think it’s dangerous, though. It seems friendly.”
Charming sheathed his sword. “Is it just me or does it seem happy to see us?” he asked. No sooner were the words out of his mouth, however, than the orb’s happiness suddenly seemed to turn to distress.
Wondering what could have caused the sudden change in mood, Emma looked around and realized that the orb must have spotted Henry, for it floated above him and buzzed around him in a rather frantic, chaotic movement.
Then it turned back to Emma. “I think it wants to know what happened to him,” said Snow, still staring at it wonderingly.
“Oh, um, Pan tricked him into giving up his heart. He thought he was saving magic, when Pan only wanted to save himself.”
Suddenly, the orb became a flaming red and Emma could sense that it was angry. Not at her or her parents, but at Pan. It was angry at what he had done to Henry.
Snow smiled. “It likes us, cares about Henry, and doesn’t like Pan. I think I like this…thing whatever it is.”
“What is that?”
Emma turned to see that the others had returned and they were all staring at the orb. It was Regina who spoken. Emma felt a sudden jolt of fear. She glanced back at the orb to see that it had once again changed color, this time to white. Emma realized that the fear was coming from the orb and it was directed towards Regina.
She also become aware of a hint of anger buried under the orb. “Wow,” Charming said, and Emma knew he could sense it too. “It certainly has good taste.”
Emma chuckled.
“What is it?” Regina repeated. Emma quickly explained about finding it in the woods and how it seemed to have emotions.
“How do we know we can trust it?” said Neal. “It could be working for Pan.” The orb flared and Emma could sense its indignation.
“Because it seems to care about Henry and hate Pan,” said Charming.
“It could be a trick,” said Hook and the orb flared again.
“It isn’t,” said Tink. “I don’t know what it is, but it isn’t native to the island. I’ve never seen it before.”
“I like it,” said Wendy stepping forward and reached out a hand as if to touch it. The orb changed back the same shade of blue it had been when Emma had first seen it and Emma got the feeling that it liked Wendy too.
“Does it have a name?” Wendy asked. The orb buzzed up and down as if trying to communicate, but soon grew frustrated.
“I still don’t trust it,” said Regina eyeing the orb, warily. The orb, for its part, stayed as far away from Regina as it possibly could without leaving the camp.
“Well, I do,” Emma said, feeling suddenly protective of the orb, though she couldn’t exactly say why. One glance at her parents was enough to ensure how that they both felt the same way.
Regina ignored her and went over to Henry. “Any change?” she asked. Snow shook her head sadly. Regina sighed and gently stroked Henry’s forehead.
Emma noticed Hook staring at her and sighed. “Sorry about the punch. I don’t know what possessed me.”
Hook opened his mouth to say something, but then a sudden buzz of excitement from the orb caught everyone’s attention. It zoomed around Henry’s head, careful not to get too close to Regina. “What’s it doing?” asked Wendy.
“I don’t know,” Emma said, watching it closely. The orb stopped zooming and just hovered over Henry’s mouth, as if concentrating. Everyone held their breaths, though none of them knew what they were waiting for. Then quite suddenly, the orb shrank and disappeared between Henry’s lips. Seconds later, his eyes flew open and he gasped for breath.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ “It’s this way. I can feel it.” Henry walked in front leading the others. Emma walked behind him, Regina behind her, followed by Snow, Charming, Neal, Wendy, Hook, and Tink in the rear. As they moved through the forest, Emma kept an eye on her son, afraid something would happen to him.
He had only been conscious for three hours, yet he looked as if nothing had happened to him. He was alert, and responsive, but Emma couldn’t help but notice a change in him. Perhaps it was losing his heart, but Henry seemed more somber, more grown up than a kid of his age had any right to be. It was like he had mentally suddenly aged twenty years. Yet, at the same time was unusually happy. More happy than Emma could ever remember seeing him. He just couldn’t stop smiling. And whenever anyone asked him why, he could just look at them and give them a knowing smile and say, “You’ll see.”
The strangest thing though is that Henry seemed to be able to sense Pan’s presence and tell where exactly he was. Regina guessed that it was because Pan had Henry’s heart. Emma wasn’t sure how she felt about this new Henry. She turned and saw her concern echoed on Regina’s face.
“Hello, Pan,” said Henry, the smile sliding from his face. Emma jumped slightly and turned to see that they had arrived at a small camp and Pan and the Lost Boys were all sitting around in a camp fire.
Pan quickly got to his feet , his back to a tree, and stared at shock in Henry. “Impossible.” Henry ignored that and went right up to him and held his hand out.
“I’d like my heart back, please.”
Pan quickly recovered and put on his best smile. “Henry. I thought you wanted to save magic. If I give you your heart back it will die.”
“Stop,” said Henry sharply. “I know now that it was all a lie. You didn’t want to save magic. You only wanted to save yourself…and kill me in the process. So give me my heart back.”
“I don’t think you fully realize the gravity of your situation, Henry,” said Pan, dropping all pretenses. “You,” he looked around at Emma and the others, “all of you, cannot stop me.”
“Perhaps we can’t,” said Neal, drawing his sword, “but my father can. He has pandora’s box, and…” he broke off as Pan pulled out a small, silver box.
“You mean, this box?” said Pan smugly.
“How did you…” Neal glanced from Pan to the box and then back in horror. “What did you do to him?” he demanded.
“Oh, he’s safe…in here!” Pan gestured to the box.
Charming and Hook drew their swords and Snow notched an arrow while Neal took a step forward, but before any of them could do anything an arrow flew through the air, caught on the sleeve of Pan’s shirt and pinned him to the tree. He dropped the box in surprise and all eyes turned to see Henry standing with an empty bow in his hands.
“Henry,” Emma stared at him in astonishment. “How…?”
“The bow and arrows were just lying on the ground,” Henry answered nonchalantly. He walked over to Pan who was attempting to pull the arrow pinning him to the tree free. Neal rushed forward pulled his arm away. Henry placed his hand over Pan’s chest…and pulled his heart free. Pan screamed in rage.
Henry stared at his heart for a moment before turning to Emma. “Mom, will you…?” he held his heart out to her.
She gently took it, then knelt down next to Henry who closed his eyes. Emma hesitated, then shoved Henry’s heart into his chest. Henry gasped and opened his eyes and smiled. Then threw his arms around her in a hug. Emma held him close.
Henry slowly pulled away and smiled at the rest of his family in turned. “How are you still alive?” Pan demanded and Henry looked towards him to see Hook holding his sword to Pan’s throat.
“I had help,” said Henry. He opened his mouth and the orb came flying out. Pan blinked.
“What on earth is that?”
“A soul,” Henry said. “The soul of a very good friend.”
Emma looked at her parents and Regina to see if they knew what Henry was talking about, but they looked just as confused as she felt.
“Well, I doubt even this friend can save you now!” growled Pan. He reached back and punch Hook in the chest as hard as he could. When the pirate doubled over, Pan slide out from his reach and charged toward Henry.
“NO!” shouted Emma and Neal and Regina all moving to intervene. Henry, on the other hand, just closed his eyes and whispered something under his breath.
Then he looked at the orb and shouted as loudly as he could. “Graham, you have your body back!” Then everyone was pulled up short as a whirl of magic surrounded the orb.
Then it faded, revealing not an orb, but someone Emma thought she’d never see again. She gasped. “Graham?”
He turned and gave her a smile and Emma felt as if her legs had just turned to jelly. Then he turned back to face Pan and the smile disappeared.
“Who are you?” Pan demanded.
“My name is Graham, but back in the Enchanted Forest I was known as the Huntsman and I was raised by wolves. You hurt Henry, Emma, or anyone else,” Graham stepped forward until his face was merely inches away from Pan’s, “and I will show you just how wolf like I can be,” he growled.
For the first time, Emma saw fear, real fear, in Pan’s eyes. He hesitated for a moment and then turned and ran. “Yeah, I thought so. You coward!” Graham yelled after him. Then he turned and Henry threw his arms around Graham. Graham smiled and put his arms around the boy.
“Welcome back!” Henry said.
“Thanks, Henry,” said Graham, but he wasn’t looking at Henry. He was looking at Emma. Emma’s eyes met him and suddenly she knew why she had punched Hook. Why she couldn’t even choose Neal. And he was standing right in front of her.
Forgetting everything, everyone, else Emma took a step forward. Henry, sensing what was about to happen, let go of Graham, and backed up, a smile on his face. “Hello, Emma,” said Graham. Then without another word, Emma threw herself in his arms, while tears streamed down her face. Graham held her close.
“I missed you,” he whispered.
Emma smiled through her tears. “I missed you too.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ “So how exactly are you even alive?” asked Rumple. Everyone was now seated around a roaring campfire. Henry was seated between Snow and Regina, the former had her head on her husband’s shoulder. Wendy was seated between Hook and Neal, both of whom were busy casting jealous glances in the direction of Graham and Emma who were cuddled close together. Emma noticed, but didn’t care. She couldn’t stop smiling. Rumple, who had been freed from the box shortly after Pan had fled was seated on the other side of Neal.
“You know how there are many different realms?” Graham asked. Everyone nodded. “Well, there is also the Spiritworld. It’s an actual, physical realm, but basically it’s where we all go once we die.”
“And he escaped it!” said Henry.
“How?” asked Emma.
“It wasn’t easy,” Graham said. “In fact it had even been attempted before, let alone done.”
“Why is that?” asked Wendy.
“Because,” said Graham, “for two reasons, firstly, the longer who stay there, the more you forget about your life. And most had been there for so long that they couldn’t even remember their own names. But secondly, for most it was a paradise. It was better than anything life had ever offered them.”
“But not for you?” asked Emma.
Graham shook his head and smiled at her. “Nope. There was something in life that death couldn’t give me. And I was too impatience to wait for it.” Emma blushed but smiled.
“So you basically brought yourself back to life?” asked Snow, amazed.
“Not really. You see, in the Spiritworld, you don’t have a physical body. You’re just a soul. So even after I finally made it out of there, I was just a soul. I soon realized that I could go anywhere, simply by thinking about it. So I thought of Emma and found myself where she was. I followed her back to camp.”
“And you possessed Henry,” Neal said, glaring at him.
“It wasn’t going to be permanent,” Graham assured him. “I just wanted to see if I could communicate with him…and I could, but it soon became apparent to the both of us that until he got his heart back from Pan, I was what was keeping him conscious.”
“And it was really because of you that Henry was able to shoot that arrow and Pan without actually hurting him!” Emma realized. “You told me once that you never missed.”
“That’s correct,” said Graham.
“Why didn’t Henry tell us you were inside of him?” asked Charming.
“Because,” said Graham, “we weren’t sure you’d believe it.”
“You got that right,” said Regina. And Emma noticed that she kept looking away from Graham, who for his part was doing his best to avoid looking at her as well.
“So, what now?” asked Graham.
Emma smiled and kissed him on the cheek. “Now, we found a way home.”
The happy ending that never was.
