I finished Bonechiller by Graham McNamee.
It was average. I didn't particularly care for the relationship subplot between Danny and Ash, but I really liked Pike and his protective nature towards his brother Howie. He's more than a bit bonkers (i.e. basically a pyromaniac with a love for explosives), but he does love his brother.
Overall, though, it sits in the "average" range for me. Not spectacular, but it’s not terrible. I suppose it's the book equivalent to vanilla ice cream; you don't really love it, but you don't hate it either.
"You try and catch the killer yourself," I say. "With what? My Swiss Army knife and my library card?"

"Be prepared. That's the Boy Scout motto." "Really? I thought it was 'You gotta fight for your right to party'."

I gotta tell you, it doesn't go away - that thing, the belief or whatever, that one day you're going to be a hero. All guys think that. It's bred into you. Every movie you ever see tells you that one day you'll get your chance. It doesn't go away, either. I'm still waiting for mine.

I use my napkin to soak up the grease off my slice. "This isn't a meal, it's a death wish," I say. "Should come with a defibrillator."

You can't trust tofu. I mean, you never see it out in the wild, like a cow or a banana or a zucchini. Tofu - even the word sounds weird, like someone sneezing in another language.

The Ignatius Howard Public Library, also known as the Igloo. The temperature in there stays at a constant deep freeze all summer - room temperature, if you live in the North Pole.
