Life’s What You Make It
Hello friend!!!
Welcome back! I hope you are doing well:) The beauty of a blog is that it doesn't matter if it reaches out to everyone. It only matters if it reaches out to someone. So I write in the mindset that someone will happen upon this blog during their googling and take a small read. Even if they don't stick around, I hope that they find something that may be missing for them here. I hope they take this piece of me and find some inspiration.
Life is yours to create. It really is. It isn't what is handed to you. It's what you grab, take, and make! You as a human have such an advantage in this day and age. We have technology that constantly pushes the human race forward and helps improve our standard of living! We have the whole wide internet that holds unlimited knowledge to learn from. You can literally google how to do anything and learn whatever you want. The internet is such a massive place that can lead you anywhere you want to go!
The only problem is people don't take this chance. They live on standby. Their life is a car and they are riding in the passenger seat instead of driving it where they want it to go. Why is that? Is it the mindset we are raised on? Is it simply laziness? Do you think modern society has imbued this mentality into us? I think it is a mix of all, and more.
Society is beautiful, but it is also detrimental. Man has created society to be a place where everyone can belong and live their lives in a coexisting peace. But many have fallen into the cracks of a bland life. They don't live their authentic lives. They take the easy and safe way out instead of living a life of true adventure and happiness. They don't take the chance to live while they are alive. It has become the cultural norm... But it really shouldn't be! Life is beautiful and should be grabbed by the bull horns!
Society has pushed people into living a simple mundane life. But I believe people can live their life fully starting whenever they are ready. All it takes is a single moment for you to start living fully and creating your life. And that moment is simply... A decision. Decide to start living your life. Decide to become what you want yourself to be. Decide to become an astronaut or a teacher or a rock climber. Take your dreams and live like they are reality, and you will notice a change. Your life will become meaningful. Your dreams will be at your fingertips. Your life will open up to you as a blank canvas, awaiting its maker to create something beautiful. You just need to make that decision.
I heard this song a few weeks ago and found it to be very inspiring. It's kind of funny... I tell everyone who comes to me for advice the quote that I like to live by; "Life is what you make it." When I heard this song, it was like someone just took what was in my mind and put it to song! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the song! MARCH MADNESS....not really.
So it's almost March...WHAT?! I can't believe it. I have only been to a couple of shows this semester and there are PLENTY coming up in March.
Two weeks ago I went to Chicago to see Graham Colton and last week I saw Avett Brothers in Bloomington, IL. WOW. Avett Bros were definitely amazing. This next month I'm going to a few shows....but these are some shows I WANT to go to / I AM going to.
5. MARCH 7: MILEY CYRUS @ ALLSTATE ARENA. I want to go to this sooooo bad. As much as she's a train wreck, this would be an awesome show to go see. I heard it's as crazy as she is.
4. MARCH 7: DAN DEACON @ SUBTERRANEAN. If you're not into Miley, then you should check out Dan Deacon. I saw him at 80/35 a few years ago and it was AMAZING. He's totally worth it.
3. MARCH 19: CHILDISH GAMBINO @ THE RIV. Oh my gosh I'm probably going to cry because I can't see this. I actually might snatch some tickets up since my friend is selling some...I'll see you all there.
2. MARCH 22: YOUNG THE GIANT @ THE RIV. I'm actually seeing YTG in STL the 21 of March so I'm not too disappointed to be missing this one. It's going to be amazing. Vance Joy is opening and he's another artist you should check out.
1. MARCH 18: LORDE @ ARAGON. She has been getting so much crap from everyone, but i think she's an amazing singer/songwriter and I believe that she will learn and develop so much more talent. She's 17! That's insane.
There are others this month...like Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. w/ Chad Valley, Greg Laswell, Reel Big Fish, Broken Bells, Warpaint, Martin Sexton, Art Garfunkel....
If you are a jazz lover then head to the SPACE in Evanston on March 8 to see Cecile McLorin Salvant. A-MA-ZING.
