“Oh, you can read the future, sir?” Leaning forward, Marie propped her elbow on her knee, resting her cheek on her hand, suddenly very interested in what this gentleman calling himself the ‘once and future king’ had to say.
“Do you have your cards with you? I would very much like to know what my future holds!” excitedly, the young lady turned to their two companions, smiling brightly. “Wouldn’t you like that as well?”
Before the other two could even say anything, the lights flickered, plunging the room into darkness. Marie let out a small cry of fear; she didn’t like the dark. Thankfully it only lasted a few seconds, and she found herself sitting high on her chair, hugging her knees to her chest.
