#grammar ask

hello, writing community! so, i got a question about grammar stuff. when you have quotations around something, but it's not necessarily dialogue, would you put a period inside or outside the ending quotation mark? take this sentence, for instance:

Sure, his life wasn’t exactly the “American dream”.

would it be "American dream." or the original? it's the end of a sentence, but i'm just not certain.

hello! im not sure if you read or respond to asks - but if you do, do you have any posts about the られる or て forms of verbs? or just the difference in verb conjugations and what they mean? im learning japanese but that's what I struggle with most so far 😅

I don't happen to have any て form specific posts. However, I hope these will help you get started HERE and HERE

られる is the passive form, while て has many different uses (as a conjunction, as a command, etc. - lots of the various uses are covered in the comprehensive guides I linked above).

I am not a great teacher of Japanese, but I hope these help you out!
