Present Indefinite Tense

Present Indefinite Tense (Simple Present Tense) is used to describe actions that are habitual, regular, or facts that are always true. It expresses daily routines, general truths, fixed arrangements, and permanent situations. For example, sentences like “I go to school,” “She reads books,” and “The sun rises in the east” show actions that happen regularly or truths that do not change. In this tense, we usually use the base form of the verb, and for third person singular (he, she, it), we add “-s” or “-es” to the verb.

Present Indefinite Tense (साधारण वर्तमान काल) का प्रयोग उन कार्यों को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है जो रोज़ होते हैं, आदत होते हैं या जो सच्चाई हमेशा सही रहती है। यह दैनिक दिनचर्या, सामान्य सत्य, स्थायी स्थितियों और निश्चित कार्यों को दर्शाता है। उदाहरण के लिए “मैं स्कूल जाता हूँ”, “वह किताबें पढ़ती है” और “सूरज पूर्व से उगता है” ऐसे कार्यों को दिखाते हैं जो नियमित रूप से होते हैं या हमेशा सत्य होते हैं।

इस काल में क्रिया का मूल रूप (base form) प्रयोग किया जाता है, और third person singular (he, she, it) के साथ क्रिया में “-s” या “-es” जोड़ा जाता है।

ता है (Masculine Singular) वह रोज़ स्कूल जाता है। मुनीब सुबह जल्दी उठता है। लड़का अपना काम समय पर करता है। ती है (Feminine Singular) वह बहुत अच्छा गाती है। लड़की देर से आती है। मेरी बहन रोज़ पढ़ती है। ते हैं (Plural – Male or Mixed Group) वे मैदान में खेलते हैं। बच्चे समय पर स्कूल आते हैं। लोग सुबह योग करते हैं। ती हैं (Plural – Only Female Group) लड़कियाँ साथ मिलकर पढ़ती हैं।

Present Indefinite Tense (Simple Present) अंग्रेज़ी का एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण काल है, जिसका उपयोग रोज़ की आदतें (daily habits), बार-बार होने वाले काम (repeated actions), सार्वभौमिक सत्य (universal truths), दिनचर्या (routine) और स्थायी स्थितियों (permanent situations) को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है। सकारात्मक वाक्य (Affirmative) में संरचना होती है Subject + V1 + object, लेकिन जब कर्ता he, she, it या कोई एकवचन संज्ञा होता है, तब क्रिया में -s या -es जोड़ा जाता है (जैसे “She plays cricket”, “Ram goes to school”)।

Use of “There in Present tense”

Use of “There” in Present Tense (वर्तमान काल में “There” का प्रयोग)

Use of “There” in Present Tense में “there” का प्रयोग किसी चीज़ के अस्तित्व (existence) को बताने के लिए किया जाता है। इसके लिए हम “there is” और “there are” का उपयोग करते हैं। जब चीज़ एक हो (singular), तब “there is” और जब चीज़ एक से अधिक हो (plural), तब “there are” का प्रयोग किया जाता है। जैसे: “There is a book on the table” का मतलब है कि मेज़ पर एक किताब है, और “There are many students in the class” का मतलब है कि कक्षा में कई छात्र हैं। यहाँ “there” जगह (place) नहीं बताता, बल्कि यह सिर्फ वाक्य की शुरुआत करता है।

Negative वाक्य बनाने के लिए हम “not” जोड़ते हैं, जैसे “There is not a pen in my bag” या “There are not any apples in the basket.” प्रश्न (questions) बनाने के लिए is/are को “there” से पहले लाते हैं, जैसे “Is there a problem?” या “Are there any questions?”

ध्यान रखें कि “do” और “does” का प्रयोग यहाँ नहीं होता, क्योंकि “is/are” पहले से ही helping verbs हैं। इसलिए “There does a book exist” गलत है, सही वाक्य होगा “There is a book.” हम सामान्यतः “there is/are” के साथ “do/does” का प्रयोग नहीं करते, क्योंकि “is/are” पहले से ही helping verbs का काम करते हैं। “Do/does” का प्रयोग तब होता है जब मुख्य क्रिया “is/are” नहीं होती, बल्कि “exist,” “live,” या “appear” जैसी कोई दूसरी verb होती है।

उदाहरण के लिए, “There exists a solution” का प्रश्न रूप “Does there exist a solution?” होगा, क्योंकि यहाँ मुख्य क्रिया “exist” है। एक और उदाहरण है “There live many people here,” जिसका प्रश्न होगा “Do there live many people here?” यह संरचना सही है लेकिन formal है। रोज़मर्रा की English में लोग “t here is/are” का प्रयोग ज्यादा करते हैं, जैसे “Is there a solution?” क्योंकि यह ज्यादा natural और आसान लगता है।

1. What is a Sentence? (वाक्य क्या है?)

English

A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought or idea. It usually contains a subject (who or what) and a verb (action or state). A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop (.), question mark (?), or exclamation mark (!).

वाक्य शब्दों का ऐसा समूह होता है जो एक पूर्ण विचार या अर्थ प्रकट करता है। इसमें सामान्यतः कर्ता (Subject) और क्रिया (Verb) होती है। वाक्य बड़े अक्षर (Capital Letter) से शुरू होता है और अंत में पूर्ण विराम (.), प्रश्नवाचक चिन्ह (?) या विस्मयादिबोधक चिन्ह (!) आता है।

Examples:

I am a student. मैं एक छात्र हूँ। (अगर वक्ता पुरुष है) मैं एक छात्रा हूँ। (अगर वक्ता महिला है)

She plays cricket. वह क्रिकेट खेलती है।

Are you happy? क्या तुम खुश हो? (अनौपचारिक / Informal) क्या आप खुश हैं? (औपचारिक / Formal)

2. Types of Sentences According to Tenses

(काल के अनुसार वाक्यों के प्रकार)

English sentences can be formed in different patterns according to tense. Common sentence types are:

Affirmative Sentence (सकारात्मक वाक्य)

Negative Sentence (नकारात्मक वाक्य)

Interrogative Sentence (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य)

Negative Interrogative Sentence (नकारात्मक प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य)

Wh-word Interrogative Sentence (प्रश्नवाचक शब्द वाले वाक्य)

Wh-word Negative Interrogative Sentence (नकारात्मक प्रश्नवाचक शब्द वाले वाक्य)

3. What is an Affirmative Sentence?

(सकारात्मक वाक्य क्या है?)

English

An affirmative sentence states something positively. It tells us that something happens or is true.

Hindi

सकारात्मक वाक्य वह होता है जिसमें किसी बात को सीधे और सकारात्मक रूप में बताया जाता है।

Structure: Subject + Helping Verb/Main Verb + Object

Examples:

I am happy. मैं खुश हूँ। (अगर वक्ता पुरुष है) मैं खुश हूँ। (अगर वक्ता महिला है)

She goes to school. वह स्कूल जाती है।

They have finished the work. उन्होंने काम पूरा कर लिया है। / उन्होंने काम समाप्त कर लिया है।

4. What is a Negative Sentence?

(नकारात्मक वाक्य क्या है?)

English

A negative sentence shows denial or refusal. It uses not.

Hindi

नकारात्मक वाक्य किसी बात के न होने को दर्शाता है। इसमें not (नहीं) का प्रयोग होता है।

Structure: Subject + Helping Verb + not + Verb/Object

Examples:

I am not tired. मैं थका नहीं हूँ। (अगर वक्ता पुरुष है) मैं थकी नहीं हूँ। (अगर वक्ता महिला है)

She does not play football. वह फुटबॉल नहीं खेलती है।

They have not arrived. वे अभी तक नहीं पहुँचे हैं। (अगर समूह में पुरुष हैं या मिश्रित समूह है) वे अभी तक नहीं पहुँची हैं। (अगर समूह में केवल महिलाएँ हैं)

5. What is an Interrogative Sentence?

(प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य क्या है?)

English

An interrogative sentence asks a question.

Hindi

प्रश्न पूछने वाले वाक्य को प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य कहते हैं।

Structure: Helping Verb + Subject + Verb + Object?

Examples:

Are you ready? क्या आप तैयार हैं? (सम्मानपूर्वक / formal) क्या तुम तैयार हो? (अनौपचारिक / informal)

Does she sing? क्या वह गाती है?

Have they gone? क्या वे जा चुके हैं? क्या वे चली गई हैं? (यदि सभी महिलाएँ हों)

6. What is a Negative Interrogative Sentence?

(नकारात्मक प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य क्या है?)

English

These sentences ask a question in a negative form.

Hindi

जो प्रश्न नकारात्मक रूप में पूछा जाए उसे नकारात्मक प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य कहते हैं।

Structure: Helping Verb + Subject + not + Verb + Object?

Examples:

Are you not ready? क्या तुम तैयार नहीं हो?

Does she not understand? क्या वह समझती नहीं है?

Have they not come? क्या वे नहीं आए हैं?

7. What is Wh-word Interrogative Sentence?

(Wh-word प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य क्या है?)

English

These questions begin with Wh-words like what, where, why, when, who, which, how.

Hindi

जिस प्रश्न की शुरुआत प्रश्नवाचक शब्द (क्या, कहाँ, क्यों आदि) से होती है उसे Wh-word interrogative sentence कहते हैं।

Structure: Wh-word + Helping Verb + Subject + Verb + Object?

Examples:

What are you doing? तुम क्या कर रहे हो? (अगर सामने वाला पुरुष है) तुम क्या कर रही हो? (अगर सामने वाली महिला है)

Where do you live? तुम कहाँ रहते हो? (अगर सामने वाला पुरुष है) तुम कहाँ रहती हो? (अगर सामने वाली महिला है)

Why is she crying? वह क्यों रो रही है?
