Grand Belial’s Key - Judeobeast Assassination. To my great delight, the CD came with extras: a hand-numbered and defiled prayer card, and a rosary in a silken pouch.

Albums of the Week! The top spot goes to Hoaxed - Two Shadows (2022). This album was included among my recent contest winnings from The Metalhead Box, and I’d never heard of the band. Turns out it’s awesome. The ultra-clean and melodic female vocals accompany a grooving, heavy rhythm section, and the songs are quite memorable. I love discovering new music like this! ⚔️ Necropanther’s excellent new release stays on for another week, as does Ettinskjalf’s. Haunt is releasing a new greatest hits compilation called “Chariot, Vol. 1,” which includes remixed and remastered versions of their finest work. Do you like Power Trip? Give Integrity’s album a try and I think you’ll like what you hear. ☠️ 1. Hoaxed - Two Shadows 2. Ettinskjalf - Between Walls and Delusion (2023) 3. Integrity - Those Who Fear Tomorrow 4. Grand Belial’s Key - Mocking the Philanthropist 5. Necropanther - Betrayal (2023) 6. Haunt - Chariot Vol. 1 (2023) 7. Obituary - Dying of Everything (2023) 8. Khemmis - Absolution 9. Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin ☠️ What did you listen to this week?
Grand Belial’s Key
Grand Belial’s Key - Mocking the Philanthropist. If you like your black metal to be blasphemous as well as melodic, this might be up your alley.
Albums of the week! The winner was a 5-CD Black Sabbath live show compilation I found at a local record store. Basically all the Ozzy-era live shows you need. The true gem of the week, however, was Hellripper’s amazing new album. This is going to rank highly on my end-of-the-year list, I guarantee it. Next, I must have been in a particularly angry mood because the rest of the list is all black metal; much of it deliciously blasphemous. Grand Belial’s Key, Godkiller, and Sargeist all scratch that anti-evangelical itch. Thulcandra just announced a new album, so I revisited their brilliant release from 2021. The new discovery of the week was Tryglav, a fabulous Croatian black metal band with a new album this week. ☠️ 1. Black Sabbath - The Broadcast Collection 1970-1975 2. Hellripper - Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags (2023) 3. Grand Belial’s Key - Kohanic Charmers 4. Thulcandra - A Dying Wish 5. Darkthrone - Goatlord (Original) (2023) 6. Godkiller - The Rebirth of the Middle Ages 7. Grand Belial’s Key - Judeobeast Assassination 8. Tryglav - The Ritual (2023) 9. Sargeist - Let The Devil In ☠️ What did you listen to this week?
The late night random orders I made during the holiday break are rolling in, and I’m scratching my head on some of these. Many were chosen solely because of the album cover. Some have turned out to be absolutely rad, and the gamble has paid off. Others are proven classics. ☠️ - Grand Belial’s Key - Kohanic Charmers. Never heard of these guys before. The cover art lured me in. Turns out it is USBM and this album rules. - Heaven & Hell - Neon Nights: 30 Years of Heaven & Hell. Will listen to this over the weekend. Should be good. - Aguul Sacrist - At Play in the Fields of the Greebo. Totally unknown to me, and by far the weirdest album art I’ve seen in years. This is raw BM from Georgia. Pretty good. - Silberbach - Miriquidi. Raw German BM. I love this band. - Black Sabbath - The Sabbath Stones. This is a comp album for Sabbath’s IRS label records. Over 80 minutes long. Great sampler for this era. - Aguul Sacrist - IV. Another unknown album I will field test soon. I liked the cover art. - Leper Chamber - Hymns to the Ropes that dangle from the Devil’s Thousand Limbs Vol. I. This sounded interesting when I ordered it. Turns out it is dark ambient/dungeon synth. I like it. - Black Sabbath - Live at Last. This was sent to me by mistake instead of Headless Cross 😢 - The Eternal Idol 😁 ☠️ What random stuff did you order over the break?
