Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life?
Here you can read this
How did Deirdre and Grandefel meet? Obviously their union causes some issues, but what are some of the biggest challenges they face being together?
They'd have met at work of course, both being the Persecutors of heaven and hell respectively. I don't honestly have all the details on it, I think I originally imagined Grandefel stepping onto the role when Deirdre had already been on it? But I would need to think it through more with timeline. Stuff. Lemme. Put a pin in it
And well for starters there was famously the whole plot fiasco where Ngah exposed the fact that Deirdre had gotten pregnant on accident and tried to use that information to destroy both of their careers bc it's taboo, she's conservative and she had all the power. They were forced to pick which kids went where and explicitly discouraged from seeing each other outside of work hours and even then. Ykno. Keep it zip. Ngah initially wanted that they'd never tell their kids about their origins at all but they couldn't do that and Grandefel did end up also sneaking out to see her goddamn wife especially when she heard she'd given birth. Which is pretty notable considering Deirdres species lays eggs normally. It was really hard on her.
General social outlash I'd say, but things did get easier for Grandefel when Ngah was demoted but that was already like the next year ish after the kids were born and they're feeling pretty alienated from themselves and their family altogether. The kids haven't properly met each other alot, at least not enough to develop significant relationships. Gabriel and Meredith also feel intense isolation and otherness and Meredith particularly has gotten stalked, bullied and harassed so she no longer goes out alone.
Since heaven is less populated, Gabriel (demon, living with Grandefel) mostly has to deal with the weird dysmorphia of not being an angel when he feels like he should be. That's also gender dysphoria though, to some extent. He hasn't realized that.
Their third child Mihail lives pretty much alone
Bro is a cutie
”Laugh along demon, but must I remind you The Throne has the form of a lion!“
Alright I've been a prissy about this for too long now But Grandefel is fundamentally a very Horny character. She's a big horny dyke and that's what the angel world at large convinced her was wrong with her and a big, in fact major topic of her finding liberation in her relationship with Deirdre is SEX. She allowed Grandefel to indulge shamelessly in her sexuality as well as helped her explore it in a safe environment and figure herself out and express herself in ways that she previously had alienated herself from deeply. Her character tackles sex sex and horny lesbianism. I'm no longer being coy about this. I'm saying this with my whole chest. Her struggles with sexuality are very central to her plot and in fact the main Not Sins plot at large (she along with Deirdre were originally intended to be main characters).
Sexuality is viewed as abnormal and excessive amongst a majority of the angels (at least in terms of conservative values) and is considered completely unnecessary and crass due to it's connection to mortality. Since angels don't need to have sex for procreation they have alot of strange ideas about it that Grandefel fell victim to. Along with her tendency for being loud, aggressive and speaking "out of turn", it was yet another thing where she was deemed "Too much". And she was dissociated and ashamed of herself for these private aspects of herself for very long until Deirdre helped her untangle her divine shame and that's a huge part of why they mean so much to each other.
"We make magnificent offspring my love."
Grandefel proclaimed, her eyes closed in pride, chest puffed. Deirdre snorted out a little laugh, wrapping her tail under the lion's jawline affectionately. "We do." her smile faded away quickly as she rest her chin on her partner's side. "It's a shame not many people agree.."
Grandefel huffed pensively, yellow swirls bubbling on her crown. "If it were up to me.."
"Yes, when you rule the Ether, my monarch, but alas.." Deirdre quipped, smiling against her fur. "Laugh along demon, but must I remind you The Throne has the form of a lion!" she huffed, setting her head atop her tucked paws. A still silence fell between the two for a moment.
"My point is.."
Deirdre glanced to her partner's direction as she continued her train of thought. "I'd wish we could have more of them.. I used to think maybe someday I'd train an heir, as is customary, but I didn't think I'd be so fond of.. Having a.. Family.." the angel mused softly, her eyes to the ground. Deirdre hummed. "Like your own little Pride.."
Grandefel lifted her head. "Pride..?"
"Yeah, like.. A pack of lions with the parents as the leaders. A Pride." Deirdre replied, lifting her head in turn, her eyes warm. Grandefel scoffed in awe. "A Pride! How genius of those mortals to think of such a term! Let's form our own Pride together, you and me!" her paws knead the ground with excitement, melting a little bit of Deirdre's heart. "I would really like that too.." her voice had a hint of melancholic resignation, and she lowered her head on the warm flank of her beloved.
"I could carry this time." Grandefel suggested, brushing her wispy tail across Deirdre's back bristle, leaving tiny glimmers along the black and white hair. "You could focus on the ones we already have, they're not grown up yet.." Deirdre closed her eyes.
"Focus?"
"Ykno, raise them first, then we'll see.." Deirdre said serenely, only half minding the topic. The angel's longer silence after that however made her doubtful and she half turned to face her, meeting a faceful of deeply thoughtful eyes. "Grande..?"
"It.. Occurs to me, that.. Angels, as opposed to.. Everyone else, have different concepts of raising young.." The angel's eyes half lidded wistfully. Deirdre continued to look at her, now becoming a slight bit concerned. "Only when becoming a sire myself I realised what mortals talk of in regards to parenting. It truly is.. A process, not entirely unlike mentoring, but so much more than i could've imagined. Angels are considered youth so briefly, afterall. Why pamper them beyond that? Or.. Even during.." she closed her lemon colored eyes, voice losing steam towards the end. Deirdre curled up closer, brushing her cheek bristles against the lion's crown softly. "Octurnius was a formidable mentor, but.. A subpar father. It seems that I personally, was never truly parented by him, as it were.." Grandefel hummed, not necessarily melancholic, but her voice carried some sense of loss and otherness that she'd only begun to untangle recently. Deirdre stalled her voice, looking for the words.
"You angels are weird."
Grandefel blew out a scoff, nudging her half grinning girlfriend. Deirdre nudged her back, chittering. "No but, I guess I wasn't much better off.. You could say my sister raised me, since our mother had something better to be doing than carrying two grubs all day. Ykno, like a guardian usually would.." she rolled her top pair of eyes. "And don't get me wrong, from what I've met others of our species, that's not, like, the default. Our kind of demons live in colonies or groups, not.. Duos.. Especially not from infanthood.." Deirdre reminisced, tucking her chin atop her hands. She didn't sound gravely saddened either, but the whole sentence sounded like one long sigh.
"Hmp.. I guess we're both a bit in over our heads.." Grandefel half yawned, squinting at her partner calmly. Deirdre hummed, not finding anything but an agreeing tone to reply with.
🌼🎹🎯🌂❤ for Nan, Grandefel andd Maiju maybe :333 answer as many as you want I just wanna know more about the ocs of all time <3 (also hi me again)
(Hi you again !!)
🌼 = How old? / age group
🎹= Hobbies?
🎯= What do they do best?
🌂= What genre are they in?
❤️= Best memory/ies?
I'm not sure if you meant that all these questions for every single character, or like?? Some other way?? But you said I can do however I want so I shall °w°
AGES:
Nan being an elder is somewhere between 50-60, I think developmentally she's the oldest character here (not chronologically bc Grandefel has for sure existed for over a thousand years but ykno. What's equivalent to their species). Ofc nan has likely also existed for a little longer than that chronologically speaking? Can't say for sure but she's in the Early elder category. Maiju is AT MOST (equivalent to) in her 40's but I'd put her in late 30's. Middle aged to some capacity. Grandefel is funnily enough youngest of everyone despite having existed the longest lolol, for an angel she'd be considered to be in her 30's approx. She's in the generation between Kxxxtr and Lamera.
HOBBIES:
Grandefel - What hobbies? 😔 Yall got free time from your all consuming societally enforced role in life? Most her free time is spent with Deirdre and the kids, but if not she's out in the sky exhibiting cat behaviour (lounging on sunny clouds, napping in strange poses and knocking stars off counters their course just bc)
Nan - Something very grandma esque probably. I mean I'm sure she does alot of "hobbyish" activities but moreso because it's been a vital part of her duties growing up (sewing, gardening, cooking ect). But how she entertains herself? Pinecone cows. And talking to them. (Google Käpylehmä, it's a thing wi/ Finns)
Maiju - What hobbies? Looking at picturebooks. Not bc she can't read or doesn't care about reading but she likes to look at nice things especially if she hasn't seen them before. Either that or sitting around and thinking about cool things. If she's feeling extra adventurous probably going on a walk or something, stopping to smell the flowers and all that jazz
DOES BEST:
Maiju - I feel like I could put so much here and it'd be really obvious. Like decapitation. Wielding a Warhammer. However I think she's the best at being an advisor and second in command to Xerxes when he's Going Normal™ about things (as he does), and keeping the anchor down on stuff. However she's also great at supporting him in his decisions so who's to say..
I'm honestly a little unsure how to answer this for the other two, I'm not saying there aren't things they're good at but I can't think of something they excel either. I think I'll just say both Nan and Grandefel are great at defying the will of unfathomable cosmic forces, whether that be deities Or societal expectations (guess which one is for which character I dare you)
GENRE:
Funnily all these characters exist in the same setting haha? Minus for Nan being an intersectional character in another story of mine as well. Anyway I will go off of vibes
Grandefel - Gay workplace drama
Maiju - Doom with animal crossing music
Nan - that brand of horror where you're stranded in the forest and find yourself in a strange village.. / maybe the monster was the generational trauma all along
FAV MEMORY:
(prepares myself emotionally)
I don't think Maiju could pick just one, she can't pick favorites in anything. The first time Xerxes took her to earth to show her sunflowers? Having a ladybug land on her nose? Learning her hair isn't red but Maroon? Getting a tie in a duel against a Power angel? Seeing herself in a mirror for the first time? There's just so many
Grandefel would probably claim it was the day she was made the primary Persecutor after her mentor (father) stepped down, however in reality it was her opening up about her feelings to Deirdre for the first time and crying in the presence of another person. For the first time also.
I feel like.. Nan's favorite memory is still yet to come, because.. (side eyes my story outline) bc ykno (starts tearing up) because b
Future memories aside I too think she can't pick just one. The choice floats between the rare few heartfelt moments with her dad, the support of her relatives after That Tragedy, getting Siru some friends (at all), messing around with her friends at the cow barn, ykno..
