I adore mixing and matching when it comes to creating a table design. Here, I am designing using a delicate French Limoge placesetting created in the late 1800’s. I paired them with a modern Kate Spade pink and gold plate beneath. I also have a white linen placemat stiched with gold thread placed on top of a lovely @april.cornell tablecloth. Using vintage or antique china, napkins, drinkware, and serving pieces brings to your table a depth of character that is welcoming and inviting. Mixing and matching patterns is such a lovely way to bring interest and color to your table. Swipe life to see a dessert I created. On this day, I made peach and blueberry galette with a Graham Cracker Crust. I found it on the cover of @bonappetitmag. Since both peaches and blueberries are in season, it was the perfect dessert for my guests. The recipe was easy to make and super delicious. When serving my dessert, I used a large rustic serve board and simply laid a few desserts on it for my guest to take as they wished. I love using wooden serving pieces like this because it changes things up and brings a wholesome feel to the table. Casual elegance doesn’t mean you have to use all your best china. You can bring warm colors, wooden pieces and mix old with new. The Favorite Chair of Cats for 45 Years

My mother loved this little chair. She had an upholsterer make a fitted cushion for the seat and she made the two small needlepoint pillows for the back. The chair was too small for most adults to sit in so it became the favorite chair of our cats. The two Siamese cats were litter mates and they did “talk” a lot in their deep Siamese voices. They both lived very long and contented lives. Now many years later, with a few cats in between, this chair with the two needlepoint pillows is at my house. My cat Lillian now enjoys the view from the little chair. I love the continuity of including inherited furniture and memories in my home.

Such a full day yesterday…wedding dress shopping with my daughter, then to her house for games and dinner with family and friends and my Granddaughter got to stay the night with me once more before her baby brother is born.
