Pokemon Gym Leader Type: Granny Moss

Granny predictably got the Grass type! As a Hearer and a conjurer, it’s very fitting. Tangela and Wormadam just spoke to me, and I associate her with the Earth element so she got two of the Grass/Ground dual-typed Pokemon. And of course, she’s a matronly grandma so she got the apple pie Pokemon, and her signature is the old lady-inspired Eldegoss.

🎁Granny Moss has left Jude a wonderfully repaired cookie jar (that he broke ages ago) filled with her fresh baked cookies and a little note with nothing more than a lipstick mark on it.

The workmanship of it really was quite impressive. Jude had clear memories of the day he broke that cookie jar- shattered was a better word, the thing had gone to more pieces than he’d actually been able to count at the time. And yet here it was, repaired so masterfully that it might never have been broken in the first place. She’d even managed to recreate the intricate moogle illustrations that had adorned the ceramic.

And that was to say nothing of the heavenly delights inside the jar. Granny Moss’ cookies were the stuff of legend around the Sandsea. Once word got out that Granny was making a fresh batch, they tended to survive just long enough to make the journey from oven to plate to countertop before being set upon. They never lasted longer than an afternoon or so, and in the past, Jude had considered himself lucky beyond measure to snag even just one before they disappeared into the hands of various Riskbreakers.

But now, Jude had a whole jar of them to himself! And not just one kind- when Jude opened the jar, he realized that Granny Moss had filled it to the brim with a variety of flavors. Exquisitely sweet sugar cookies! Savory, crunchy almond cookies! Delectable pecan sandies! Sinfully sugared coconut cookies! And of course, the classic and gold standard to which all others aspired, Granny Moss’ famous soft-baked, extra chewy, double-stuffed chocolate chip cookies!

It was almost enough to make him forget his discomfort with the lipstick mark on the note. Jude had learned to be careful this time of the year, when Granny Moss could be found strategically wandering beneath boughs of mistletoe at the same time as strapping young men, himself in particular. The note seemed to make her intent to brand him with her annual Starlight Smooch very clear. He couldn’t avoid it forever... The woman seemed to have some kind of sixth sense when it came to detecting people walking beneath mistletoe.

Jude nibbled a peanut butter cookie, brow furrowed. It was going to be a long holiday season.

Ashley Rosenheim is writing up an order for a new batch of repair materials. Granny Moss: Ah! Rosenheim! You are just the man I was hoping to see. Ashley Rosenheim speaks tersely. Ashley Rosenheim: ...Miss Moss. If you'd excuse me, I'm busy at the moment. Granny Moss shakes her head. Granny Moss: Apologies, ser, but it is quite important. Ashley Rosenheim says nothing. Granny Moss: Tell me, is Ashelia all right? You are connected to her as I am to my Cluster, so you must know! Ashley Rosenheim looks very stern; he's heard only the vaguest details of the Cluster, but he has no doubt that she, too, heard Ashelia Riot's message. Granny Moss is not intimidated in the least and refuses to back down. Ashley Rosenheim: ...You know as well as I that this conversation will not be kept between the two of us. Granny Moss: No matter how much we may try. Ashley Rosenheim: It's difficult enough for intelligence to remain confidential in one person's hands. Granny Moss: Though of my Cluster, the only one who is close enough to attempt to listen in is Azionne, and I can assure you she will not even want to. The others are quite occupied. And perhaps in danger themselves. Ashley Rosenheim: And if the Garleans should go after you, or Azionne? What assurances are there that my daughter's whereabouts would be kept safe? Ashley Rosenheim has never before said those words under this roof to anyone who isn't Ashelia Riot. Granny Moss narrows her eyes. Granny Moss: You are not the only one who has suffered at the Empire's hands. And I have a feeling you underestimate what I am capable of. Granny Moss: I do not fear the Garleans. Ashley Rosenheim: ...Perhaps you don’t. Ashley Rosenheim breaks his glance, looking down at the parchment he's writing on. Granny Moss: If you have intelligence that could help us, I implore you to use it! Ashley Rosenheim shakes his head. Ashley Rosenheim: She has the right of it. There's no way to reach where they are without launching a full-scale effort, one that would surely be torn to pieces well before reaching her position. Ashley Rosenheim: ...Ashelia and the others are in the Peaks. They were hiding in Ala Gannha for a time, but they're going to have to figure out a new plan soon. The XIIth are on their way. Granny Moss: I am not suggesting a full-scale assault. There is a reason Ashelia left behind those she did. Ashley Rosenheim: A stealth mission, then? Ashley Rosenheim's tone conveys what he thinks of the idea. Granny Moss: It could be any number of things, playing to the strengths of those left behind. Stealth, reconnaissance, aid in the recovery efforts, hit-and-runs to Garlean supply lines... Even something as small as donating food or supplies to the Resistance. To the Reach. Ashley Rosenheim runs a hand through his hair - an old nervous tic he was supposed to have relieved himself of years ago. Ashley Rosenheim: Who would lead these efforts, then? Granny Moss: You or I. Linini. Baithin. Nathaniel. Leodaire. Any number of people. We could designate certain jobs to certain people. Ashley Rosenheim would recommend Orella Steelhand, but she's still coming to grips with her own freedom. Ashley Rosenheim: I'll have no part to play in the leadership. I daresay any of the company would be able to put the pieces together the moment I start issuing orders. Granny Moss: And what would be so horrible about that? Ashley Rosenheim: The XlIth still think me dead up in Azys Lla. Granny Moss: And if they found out you yet lived, would they pursue you more than they already pursue those who slew the Black Wolf? Ashley Rosenheim: Without a doubt. Granny Moss does not falter, though the certainty with which he says that catches her by surprise. Granny Moss: Well, even so... We Riskbreakers fight tooth and nail to protect our own. Regardless of their origins. Of what they may have done. Ashley Rosenheim scowls at Granny Moss. Ashley Rosenheim: I know what it is Riskbreakers do, Miss Moss. Granny Moss: We do not sit idle when our own are in mortal danger, is what. Ashley Rosenheim: And nor do I. Granny Moss: And please, drop the “Miss.” I've told you time and time again that just “Granny” is fine. Granny Moss waves a hand. Ashley Rosenheim: ...By the time Ashelia returns... she'll have another ally. Granny Moss: Oh? Ashley Rosenheim: ...Should you make contact with Edge, tell him I've found Tia. Granny Moss doesn't know the significance of that, but she nods. Granny Moss: I will... though I do not know how. Ashley Rosenheim: My thanks. Ashley Rosenheim sighs. Ashley Rosenheim: Is there anything else you'd care to know? Granny Moss: Not yet. Granny Moss gives him the barest of smiles. Granny Moss: Look forward to your orders in the recovery efforts to come. Ashley Rosenheim: ... Ashley Rosenheim realizes he may have made a grave mistake. Granny Moss is quite smug. Ashley Rosenheim: ...Don't push it. Granny Moss laughs.

RP Hooks: Granny Moss

Gridanian Hearer: Are you Gridanian, or even a conjurer of Stillglade Fane? You might know of the kindly old Hellsguard who’s been a big presence in the city for as long as you can remember, full of interesting stories and known for hitting on all the other conjurers. She may have even tried to set you up with one of her grandchildren once upon a time.

Worldwide adventurer: Granny has been almost everywhere in Hydaelyn. She has spent most of her time in Eorzea, but in her youth and young adult years she traveled to Thavnair, the Far East, Ilsabard, and even parts of the Meracydian continent. Perhaps you crossed paths with her years and years ago, or heard stories about her.

Mountain tribes of Abalathia: Born deep in Abalathia’s Spine, Granny has only been home once since she left in her youth. Still, everyone she knew from her home has long since passed, so she’s not reluctant to meet anyone else who may be native to the area. Her actual name is Whispering Moss, but nowadays everyone just calls her Granny.

Mamool Ja: Has your character ever done something inappropriate in a situation that did not warrant it? For Anyone!

The only ones that come to mind are Granny and Edge! And Granny just because she’s Granny and will flirt with any attractive man anywhere, or try to set up attractive women with her grandson. She will also unashamedly wear skimpy bathing suits. Last All Saint’s Wake she wore a skimpy bunny outfit. And she also proudly owns a maid outfit, though she was successfully convinced to wear slacks underneath instead of show off her bloomers.

As for Edge, he once beat up the Saint of Nymeia when he was drunk at a party and hasn’t lived it down.

15. Would they rather go back and relive their childhood? Why or why not?

Sorry it took me a bit longer to get to this one! I had to think about it.

Azionne would certainly say yes, she would. She misses her parents and the naivety of childhood dearly. She would most definitely cherish it more if she had a second chance.

Edge would have said yes if you asked him a few years ago, but now he’d say otherwise. He doesn’t remember much of his childhood in Ala Mhigo and things are much better now.

Granny would have liked the idea of simpler times, and to go back because she’s getting older and older, but she doesn’t miss life in Dravania. She might miss her early adventuring years, but now she knows that wisdom comes with age and she would prefer to stay right where she is.

Absolutely not. He doesn’t miss his parents or all the pressure they put on him. If anything, he misses his siblings.

Lini would, because she misses her mother dearly. She would make her mom stop being a gladiator and spend more time with both of her parents.

would they be a good parent? for any of them!

Granny has raised two children of her own, and two grandchildren! She thinks she did a pretty good job, but has regrets as much as any other parent does. And now she more or less views the entirety of the Riskbreakers as her children/grandchildren, so she’s hoping she is doing a good job for them, too.

Out of all the rest of them, Edge would probably be the best parent. He’s grown to be more responsible and dependable, and would do anything for his family. He and @onwesterlywinds ‘ Ashe have plans to start a family in their future.

The rest of them… would probably be awful parents, honestly. They’re either too caught up in themselves or just woefully unprepared for anything relating to children.

Granny Moss’s turn! She tends toward frumpy clothing, not caring too much for fashion. She usually sticks to dresses and robes. Her primary color is green, but she does tend to other earthy colors such as brown as well. She does not have a swimsuit, though I will leave that up to everyone else to imagine why.

1) Gardening/traveling/general outdoorsy set.

2) Like Yue, she envisions herself as something of the Riskbreaker’s maid. Unlike Yue, no one wants this. Baithin and Azionne had to convince her to at least wear something besides just housemaid’s bloomers under her skirts.

3) Formal wear.

4) Something of her battle gear, but she does forgo the hood sometimes and just wear that regularly.

5) Her set for housework, particularly cooking. The cane is more of a walking stick.

6) Casual wear.

7) Cold weather clothing.

8) Another alternate set of hers, particularly what she wore as a Hearer.

9) A little known fact about Granny is that she sometimes volunteers in Ishgard as a chirurgeon, particularly for the lowborn. She also likes to pretend she’s a nun and shock people. The Holy See does not condone this. Incidentally, she believes the staff in this screen contains the spirit of her dead second husband.
